Ambersunshower (born Ambersunshower Nadine Miligros Villenuevo Smith)) is an American R&B singer and former member of the hip hop duo, Groove Garden. Career Ambersunshower has been writing poetry since the age of ten. She was one half of hip hop duo Groove Garden, alongside DJ Atsushi. Groove Garden was signed by Tommy Boy, and the pair went on to open for Digable Planets on their first national tour. After the dissolution of Groove Garden, Ambersunshower left her label and temporarily retired from music to take care of her ailing grandfather, after whom her debut album, ''Walter T. Smith'', was named. Her first single release in 1996 was the title track from the album. Gee Street Records released Ambersunshower's debut solo album, ''Walter T. Smith'', in 1996. It was released in April 1996 through Epic Soundtrax, and consists primarily of hip hop music. Composed of thirteen songs, it features appearances by the likes of Ambersunshower, Biz Markie, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Camp Lo, DJ U-Neek, E-40, Insane Clown Posse, Jamie Foxx, Lou Rawls, Marcus Miller, Nyt Owl, Passion, Premier, Rudy Ray Moore, and Wu-Tang Clan members. Gee Street Records
Gee Street Records was a British hip hop record label started by Jon Baker in 1985. The label's name came from its original location, a converted warehouse on Gee Street (off Old Street) in London, EC1. Between 1980 and 1984, label head Baker lived in New York City. After returning to London in 1984, he became a hip-hop promoter, and in 1985 opened Gee Street Records and began releasing white-label dance and hip-hop records. Many of these broke new ground. The label developed a roster of prominent domestic UK acts, including DJ Richie Rich, Outlaw Posse, and Stereo MC's, and US acts, including P.M. Dawn, Doug E. Fresh, Gravediggaz, and New Kingdom. In 1990, Gee Street was acquired by Chris Blackwell's Island Records.
