Amber Wagner
Amber Wagner is an American soprano who has performed internationally to critical acclaim. She has often performed in the operas of composer Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner. Early life and education Born in Santa Barbara, California but raised in Hillsboro, Oregon, both her parents were musicians and were active in the musical community while she was growing up. She began her opera journey when she auditioned for an on-campus vocal ensemble at Grand Canyon University. Originally an intended sociology major, she auditioned for Dr. Sheila Corley in hopes of earning scholarship money and was quickly encouraged to switch her major to music. A soprano () is a type of classical female singing voice and has the highest vocal range of all voice types. Minnesota Opera is a performance organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. ''Il tabarro'' (''The Cloak'') is an opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Giuseppe Adami, based on 's play ''La houppelande''. Vancouver Opera
Vancouver Opera is the second largest performing arts organization in British Columbia and the largest opera company in western Canada. Its mainstage performances occur in the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, other venues in Vancouver and occasionally elsewhere in British Columbia. The Flying Dutchman (opera)
The ''Flying Dutchman'' ( nl, De Vliegende Hollander) is a legendary ghost ship, allegedly never able to make port, but doomed to sail the seven seas forever. The myth is likely to have originated from the 17th-century Golden Age of the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and of Dutch maritime power. The oldest known extant version of the legend dates from the late 18th century. According to the legend, if hailed by another ship, the crew of the ''Flying Dutchman'' might try to send messages to land, or to people long dead. Reported sightings in the 19th and 20th centuries claimed that the ship glowed with a ghostly light. In ocean lore, the sight of this phantom ship functions as a portent of doom. Arizona Opera is an opera company which operates in both Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona. History Arizona Opera was established in 1971 as the Tucson Opera Company, under founding general director James P. Jamie Barton (singer)
Jamie Barton (born October 17, 1981) is an American mezzo-soprano. She won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition (both Main and Song Prizes) in June 2013. She is also the winner of the 2015 Richard Tucker Award. Early life and education Barton was born in Rome, Georgia. Her parents are Jim Barton and Robin Fox. She first performed when she was six years old, singing "Tender Shepherd" from the 1954 musical ''Peter Pan'' at a talent show at the Armuchee Elementary School. She attended Armuchee High School, obtained a bachelor's degree from Shorter College and pursued a master's degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, both degrees in voice performance.
