Always On Duty
''Zu jeder Stunde'' (English-language title: ''Always On Duty'') is an East German black-and-white film, directed by Heinz Thiel. It was released in 1960. Plot Border Troops' soldier Martin arrives in a village on the Inner German border. He falls in love with a local girl, Renate. Their relationship is opposed to by her father, who promised her to the son of farmer Grabow. When Grabow plans to leave to the West with the aid of the corrupt officer Zimmer, Martin discovers their plans and informs his superiors, although Zimmer was his friend. DEFA
DEFA (''Deutsche Film-Aktiengesellschaft'') was the state-owned film studio of the German Democratic Republic (East Germany) throughout the country's existence. Since 2019, DEFA's film heritage has been made accessible and licensable on the PROGRESS archive platform. History DEFA was founded in Spring 1946 in the Soviet Occupied Zone in eastern Germany; it was the first film production company in post-World War II Germany. The Border Troops of the German Democratic Republic (german: Grenztruppen der DDR) was the border guard of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) from 1946 to 1990. The were the primary force guarding the Berlin Wall and the Inner German border, the GDR's international borders between West Berlin and West Germany respectively. The force belonged to the Ministry of National Defence (MfNV) from 1961, and was a service branch of the National People's Army until 1971 when it became directly subordinate to the MfNV. Inner German Border
The inner German border (german: Innerdeutsche Grenze or ; initially also ) was the border between the German Democratic Republic (GDR, East Germany) and the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG, West Germany) from 1949 to 1990. Not including the similar and physically separate Berlin Wall, the border was long and ran from the Baltic Sea to Czechoslovakia.
