Alun Evans (cricketer)
Alun Evans (born 20 August 1975) is a Wales, Welsh cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He has played first-class cricket since 1996, when his stroke-playing ability and free scoring captured the eye of spectators. He spent a short period of time with Middlesex County Cricket Club, Middlesex's Second XI, but when he hit three centuries in a mere month with the side, he was recommended to step up to first-class cricket, where he made his debut with 66 not out in 1996. Despite only playing one first-class match during 1997, he became a heavy scorer in the Second XI, at which point the retirement of Hugh Morris (cricketer), Hugh Morris allowed the young Welshman to take his place as a regular opening batsman. This was until a stress fracture stopped him from performing in the 1998 season, meaning Evans was unable to return until the opening day of 1999, the same year in which he hit his maiden One-day century. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Middlesex County Cricket Club
Middlesex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. Hugh Morris (cricketer)
Hugh Morris (born 5 October 1963) is a Welsh people, Welsh former cricketer, who played in three Test cricket, Tests for England cricket team, England in 1991. He played county cricket for Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Glamorgan, Captain (cricket), captaining the county, and after several senior roles for the England and Wales Cricket Board he returned to Glamorgan as chief executive and director of cricket in August 2013. Matthew Thomas Gray Elliott (born 28 September 1971) is a former cricketer from Australia, who played as a left-handed opening batsman. Beginnings with Victoria After he made his debut for Victoria in the 1992–1993 season, he soon established himself as one of the top opening batsmen in Australian domestic cricket, before progressing his way through to the Bendigo and District Cricket Association playing for the Bendigo Cricket Club in his role as an opening batsman. Jimmy Maher
James Patrick Maher (born 27 February 1974) is an Australian former cricketer, who played One Day Internationals. He is "an attractive left-handed batsman with a clumping cover-drive". Maher competed in the Gladiator Team Sports Challenge in 1995. Domestic career The following two seasons were a prolific pair for Maher playing for Queensland, a time which included a period at Glamorgan. In 2001–02, he became the first batsman to reach 1000 runs in the Pura Cup. On 25 February 2007, Maher was named Man of the Match in the Ford Rangers Cup Final against the Victorian Bushrangers after making 108 from 133 balls.
