Aluche
Aluche is a barrio of the city of Madrid, situated in the southwest of the city, in the Latina district. It is bounded by the barrios of Campamento, Las Águilas, Lucero, Los Cármenes, and the Carabanchel district. Aluche takes its name from the Luche creek that formerly flowed through the neighbourhood. With 75,871 inhabitants, it is the largest of Madrid's barrios (according to the 2001 census). Latina (Madrid)
Latina is a district of Madrid located in the southwestern corner of the municipality. Etymology Its name comes from Beatriz Galindo, ''La Latina'', teacher of Isabella I of Castile. Geography Position The district, situated in a southwestern part of the municipality, borders with the following districts: Carabanchel, Arganzuela, Centro and Moncloa-Aravaca. It includes the old cross-roads of the road of Extremadura, and it has several tributary streams to Manzanares river (Luche, Caño Roto etc.). Gómez Ulla Military Hospital
The Gómez Ulla Military Hospital ( es, Hospital Militar Gómez Ulla), presently know officially as ''Hospital Central de la Defensa Gómez Ulla'', is a military hospital in Madrid, located in the Aluche area in the former Carabanchel quarter of the city. It is part of the Ministry of Defence (Spain), Spanish Ministry of Defence. History The hospital was founded on 21 April 1896 as the Hospital de Carabanchel and soon became a background for the dramatic historical events of 20th century Spain. Carabanchel
Carabanchel is a district of Madrid, Spain. It lies on the southern (right) bank of the Manzanares, spanning southward down to the M-40 ring road. The district is made up of the neighbourhoods of Abrantes, Comillas, Opañel, Puerta Bonita, San Isidro and Vista Alegre. Overview The area was the scene of fierce fighting during the Spanish Civil War -especially in November 1936, during the Battle of Madrid, when Nationalist troops tried to fight their way into the area. Unaccustomed to street fighting, they took heavy casualties. For the remainder of the Siege of Madrid, the front lines ran through the streets of Carabanchel, until Republican Madrid fell in March 1939. Casa De Campo
The Casa de Campo (, for Spanish: ''Country House'') is the largest public park in Madrid. It is situated west of central Madrid, Spain. It gets its name 'Country House' because it was once a royal hunting estate, located just west of the Royal Palace of Madrid. It was created in the early 16th century for use by the royal family and nobility, and was opened to the public in 1931 when it became a public park. Today, it is a popular green space and weekend destination for Madrid residents. Its area is , about five times the size of New York City's Central Park or twice the size of Paris' Bois de Boulogne. Toledo (province)
Toledo is a province of central Spain, in the western part of the autonomous community of Castile–La Mancha.
