Annie Altschul
Annie Therese Altschul, CBE, BA, MSc, RGN, RMN, RNT, FRCN (18 February 1919 – 24 December 2001) was Britain's first mental health nurse pioneer; a midwife, researcher, educator, author and a patient advocate, emeritus professor of nursing. Early years and interests She was born in Vienna, Austria on 18 February 1919 to Ludwig and Marie Altschul. She was five years old when her father was killed in a railway accident. Altschul was studying mathematics at the University of Vienna when she had to leave Austria in March 1939, then coming under Nazi rule. Altschul came to London with her mother, sister and young nephew. Altschul, a former Goldman Sachs partner and prominent art collector and philanthropist. Randice-Lisa "Randi" Altschul (born 1960) is an American toy developer and inventor based in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. With little technical training or engineering knowledge, she developed toys and board games that saw great success. As a result, she became a millionaire by the age of 26. Her board game Miami Vice, inspired by the television series of the same name, would be further developed into Grand Theft Auto: Vice City by Rockstar North, which went on to become one of the best-selling games in 2002. Barry Altschul (born January 6, 1943, New York City) is a free jazz and hard bop drummer who first came to notice in the late 1960s for performing with pianists Paul Bley and Chick Corea. Biography Altschul is of Russian Jewish heritage, the son of a laborer who did construction work and drove a taxi. Having initially taught himself to play drums, Altschul studied with Charlie Persip during the 1960s. In the latter part of the decade, he performed with Paul Bley. In 1969 he joined with Chick Corea, Dave Holland and Anthony Braxton to form the group Circle. At the time, he made use of a high-pitched Gretsch kit with add-on drums and percussion instruments. In the 1970s, Altschul worked extensively with Anthony Braxton's quartet featuring Kenny Wheeler, Dave Holland, and George E. Lewis. Andrew Foster Altschul is an American fiction writer. He is the author of the novels ''Deus Ex Machina'', ''Lady Lazarus'', and ''The Gringa'' and his short fiction and essays have been published in ''Esquire'', '' McSweeney's'', '' Ploughshares'', '' Fence'', and '' One Story''. Moses ben Ḥanoch Altschul (commonly known as Moses Ḥanochs; 1633) was the author of the "''Brantspiegel''" (1602). Altschul was a considerable figure in the history of Jewish literature or, more properly speaking, of Judæo-German literature; for he was one of the first to use the vernacular in a polished diction, though he dealt with a subject that was not new nor peculiar to the secular life – that of ethics.
