Alton Adams
Alton Augustus Adams, Sr. (November 4, 1889 – November 23, 1987) is remembered primarily as the first black (people), black military band, bandmaster in the United States Navy (beginning 1917). His music was performed by the bands of John Philip Sousa and Edwin Franko Goldman and his march "The Governor's Own" (1921) appears as the first selection on the bicentennial album ''Pride of America'', released by New World Records. Early life and education The St. Thomas-born son of aspiring artisan parents, Adams attended elementary school and later apprenticed to become a carpenter and then a shoemaker. During this time, he nurtured a passion for music and literature. Adams learned to play piccolo (chosen primarily because the instrument was less expensive than a full-size flute) and joined the St. Thomas Municipal Band in 1906. Alton Morgan
Alton E. Morgan (June 3, 1932 – March 16, 2022) was an American accountant and politician in Maine. Morgan was born in Gardiner, Maine. He was raised in Randolph, Maine, and graduated from Gardiner High School. Morgan went to Georgetown University and graduated from University of Southern Maine. He served in the United States Air Force and served as an accountant. Morgan served on the South Portland School Board. He also served in the Maine House of Representatives in 1997 and 1998 and was a Democrat. Alton Anthony Thelwell (born 5 September 1980) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. Career Thelwell was born in Islington, London. He began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, for whom he made twenty-one appearances in league and cup competitions. In the summer of 2000, IFK Hässleholm of the fourth-highest division in Sweden, sold Jon Jönsson to Tottenham for £70,000 and also agreed two loan deals for the Swedish club - that of Thelwell and Peter Crouch. He also won one England under-21 cap on 27 February 2001, as a substitute in the 4–0 defeat at home to Spain U21. However injuries robbed him of further first-team opportunities at Spurs, and he was released by then boss Glenn Hoddle in 2003. Alton Ochsner Sr. (May 4, 1896 – September 24, 1981) was an American surgeon and medical researcher who worked at Tulane University and other New Orleans hospitals before he established The Ochsner Clinic. Now known as Ochsner Medical Center, the clinic is the flagship hospital of Ochsner Health System. Among its many services are heart transplants.
