Alton Thelwell
Alton Anthony Thelwell (born 5 September 1980) is an English former footballer who played as a defender. Career Thelwell was born in Islington, London. He began his career at Tottenham Hotspur, for whom he made twenty-one appearances in league and cup competitions. In the summer of 2000, IFK Hässleholm of the fourth-highest division in Sweden, sold Jon Jönsson to Tottenham for £70,000 and also agreed two loan deals for the Swedish club - that of Thelwell and Peter Crouch. He also won one England under-21 cap on 27 February 2001, as a substitute in the 4–0 defeat at home to Spain U21. However injuries robbed him of further first-team opportunities at Spurs, and he was released by then boss Glenn Hoddle in 2003. Thelwell signed for Hull City on 13 June 2003 by manager Peter Taylor after being released from Tottenham. He scored on his debut against Darlington. Islington () is a district in the north of Greater London, England, and part of the London Borough of Islington. Glenn Hoddle (born 27 October 1957) is an English former football player and manager. He currently works as a television pundit and commentator for ITV Sport and BT Sport. He played as a midfielder for Tottenham Hotspur, Monaco, Chelsea and Swindon Town and at international level for England. In 2007, he was inducted into the National Football Museum Hall of Fame, which cited him as one of the most gifted and creative English footballers of his generation, exhibiting "sublime balance and close control, unrivalled passing and vision and extraordinary shooting ability, both from open play and set pieces". He was also known for his tactical intelligence and work-rate. The 2009–10 FA Cup qualifying rounds opened the 129th season of competition in England for 'The Football Association Challenge Cup' (FA Cup), the world's oldest association football single knockout competition. As in the previous year, 762 clubs were accepted for the competition. The large number of clubs entering the tournament from lower down ( Levels 5 through 10) in the English football pyramid meant that the competition started with six rounds of preliminary (2) and qualifying (4) knockouts for these non-League teams. The 32 winning teams from the Fourth Round Qualifying progressed to the First round proper, where League teams tiered at Levels 3 and 4 entered the competition. The 2009–10 FA Cup (known as The FA Cup sponsored by E.ON for sponsorship reasons) was the 129th season of the world's oldest football knockout competition; the FA Cup. As in the previous year, 762 clubs were accepted for the competition. One club, Newcastle Blue Star, folded before the fixtures were released. As they were scheduled to enter the competition in the First Round Qualifying, their opponents in this round received a walkover. The competition commenced on 15 August 2009 with the Extra Preliminary Round and concluded on 15 May 2010 with the Final, held at Wembley Stadium. The final was contested by 2009 winners Chelsea and 2008 winners Portsmouth. Originally, the winners were to qualify for the play-off round of the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League. The Essex Senior Football League is an English men's football league. It contains clubs from the Essex FA, Hertfordshire FA, London FA, Middlesex FA and the Amateur Football Alliance. It is a feeder league to Division One North of the Isthmian League and has a single division which sits at Step 5 (or Level 9) of the National League System. Such a transfer is completed by registering the player into the new club through FIFA.
