Cristina Altamira
Cristina Altamira (born 2 February 1953 Buenos Aires, Argentina) is a mezzo-soprano specializing in baroque music, baroque and Latin American music. Biography Born into an Argentine family of Spanish descent, Altamira trained in Buenos Aires with her father, Manuel Altamira, a well-known tenor specializing in the genres of tango music, tango and Milonga (music), milonga. She also became conversant with Argentine folk dance and guitar playing, and was a member of various choral organizations and music groups. After a performance tour through Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela, she settled in Caracas. Here she founded the vocal-instrumental ensemble ''Alabanza'', taking much interest in the study of Venezuelan folk music, instruments, and vocal techniques. In 1977 she recorded the album ''Gracias'' together with Pedro Inatty and Dieter Lehnhoff, whom she had met in Caracas and who became her husband. Jorge Altamira
Jorge Altamira (born José Saúl Wermus in 1942), is an Argentine activist and politician leading the Workers' Party (''Partido Obrero'') in Argentina. He was born José Saúl Wermus (sometimes spelled "José Huermus") in Buenos Aires, on 14 April 1942. Altamira's parents were ethnically Jewish but spiritually atheist and he was raised without religious conviction. Son of a printing worker active in the Graphist Union, Altamira began participating in the labor movement at an early age, and took part in a number of strikes. Altamira had a son. He founded an advocacy magazine, ''Política Obrera'', in 1964, and, later a party by the same name. The party was banned following the March 1976 coup, however, though in 1982, amid the political liberalization that preceded the 1983 return to democracy, he founded the Workers' Party of Argentina. Rafael Altamira y Crevea (February 10, 1866 – June 1, 1951) was a Spanish historian and jurist. Born in Alicante, Altamira is considered to be one of the most significant Spanish historians of the 20th century, was a multi-faceted scholar who also took interest in journalism, pedagogy, politics, and literature. Written as a manual for Spanish history, no other work has pictured the Spanish ethos so graphically as Rafael Altamira's ''Historia de España y de la Civilización Española'' (Barcelona, 1899).Gamarra, 2012.
