Altaf Hossain (-3 May 2009) Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He was elected a member of parliament from Bagerhat-4 in 1986. Early life Altaf Hossain was born in about 1934 in Bagerhat District. Career Altaf Hossain was a lawyer. He served as Union Parishad Chairman for a long time and Morelganj Upazila Chairman. Mia Abbas Uddin (1 January 1949 – 28 December 2017) Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician. He was elected a member of parliament from Bagerhat-4 in 1988. Early life Mia Abbas Uddin was born on 1 January 1949 in Bagerhat District. His father Manik Mia and mother Raushan Ara. She married Setara Abbas. They have 1 son and 3 daughters. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দল, Bangladesh Jātīyotābādī Dol; BNP) is a centre-right to right-wing nationalist, political party in Bangladesh and one of the major political parties of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Medical College (BMC), established in 1986, is the oldest private medical college as well as the oldest private institute for tertiary education in Bangladesh. The college is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It is affiliated with University of Dhaka as a constituent college. The Jatiya Party ( bn, জাতীয় পার্টি, translit=Jatiyo Party, lit=National Party) is a conservative, nationalist political party in Bangladesh and is currently the main opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, against the Awami League. The current chairman of the party is Ghulam Muhammad Quader. On 3 January 2019, the party announced its decision to join the Bangladesh Awami League-led Grand Alliance after having been in opposition for the previous parliamentary term. However, the party backtracked the next day and announced that it intended to remain part of the opposition. Currently, it holds Rangpur out of Bangladesh's 12 city corporations. General elections were held in Bangladesh on 7 May 1986. A total of 1,527 candidates contested the election. The result was a victory for the Jatiya Party, which won 153 of the 300 seats. Voter turnout was 61.1%. Bangladesh Nationalist Party, the winner of the previous elections, boycotted the election.
