Alta Motors
Alta Motors was an American manufacturer of off-road motorcycle, off-road and dual-sport electric motorcycles based in Brisbane, California. History Derek Dorresteyn, whose family has a long presence on the San Francisco motorcycle scene, started working on a bespoke electric bike in 2007. He partnered with industrial designer Jeff Sand and entrepreneur Marc Fenigstein to found BRD Motorcycles in 2010. The acronym's meaning was only known to the founders and never disclosed. In 2011, Alta hired Viktor Pritzker, a former Director of Sales at Vectrix. In 2013, Tesla, Inc., Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard joined the company's advisory board. After securing additional investors, BRD changed its name to the more evocative Alta Motors, a reference to its home region of ''Alta California''—or North California. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA ) is an agency of the U.S. federal government, part of the Department of Transportation. It describes its mission as "Save lives, prevent injuries, reduce vehicle-related crashes" related to transportation safety in the United States. NHTSA is charged with writing and enforcing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards as well as regulations for motor vehicle theft resistance and fuel economy, as part of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) system. Kurt Nicoll
Kurt Nicoll (born 15 November 1964) is an English former professional motocross racer. Nicoll was one of the top riders in the Motocross Grand Prix World Championships during the late 1980s and early 1990s, finishing as the runner up four times in the F.I.M. 500cc world championships. Nicoll won 13 World Motocross Grands Prix and 7 ACU British National Championships. Nicoll was a member of the victorious 1994 British Motocross des Nations team that included Paul Malin and Rob Herring. The upset victory marked the first time a British team had won the event since 1967 and, broke a 13-year American winning streak at the Motocross des Nations. In 2004 and 2009 Nicoll won the American Motorcycle Association's Supermoto Unlimited Championship. He also won the AMA National Vet Championship in Endurocross in 2011 and 2012. AMA EnduroCross Championship
The AMA EnduroCross Championship is an endurocross championship held in North America since 2007. It is held in stadiums or arenas, recreating enduro obstacles such as rocks, boulders and logs. Motorsport promoters Eric Peronnard and Tim Clark organized the first EnduroCross event at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas in 2004, with a similar format to the Barcelona Indoor Enduro. In 2007, EnduroCross turned into a three-round championship with AMA sanctioning. Since 2008, at least six rounds have been held each year. In 2011 and 2012, the X Games Los Angeles was a points-scoring round of the AMA EnduroCross. Las Vegas has hosted the final round from 2007 to 2013, and the first round from 2008 to 2010 and since 2012. Cities that have hosted the AMA EnduroCross include Denver, Everett, Boise and Ontario. Suzuki RM Series
The RM series is a model range of two-stroke motorcycles manufactured by Suzuki. The letters "RM" stand for "Racing Model" and the motorcycles produced with this prefix in their model names are suited to use in motocross racing. The first in the range was introduced in 1975 with the RM 125M, This bike was plagued by mechanical issues (nearly all seized) and a half year model, the RM "S" was rushed out along with a kit of the "S" changes for M owners. the M model is now rare as most were converted to S specs. (ported barrel, bigger carb and different CDI) these were the last of the down pipe RM's and were followed by the RM 125A, RM 250A, and RM 370A in 1976. Ricky Carmichael
Richard Joseph Carmichael (born November 27, 1979) is an American former professional motocross and stock car racing driver. He competed in the AMA Motocross Championships from 1997 to 2007 and in NASCAR from 2008 to 2011. Carmichael is notable for winning the AMA 450cc motocross national championship seven times and, the AMA Supercross Championship 450cc class five times. His unrivaled successes in the sport of motocross have given him the nickname "The GOAT"; standing for Greatest of All Time.
