The El Cielo Biosphere Reserve (''Reserva de la Biosfera El Cielo'' in Spanish) is located in the Sierra Madre Oriental in the southern part of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas near the town of Gómez Farias. Gómez Farías Municipality is a municipality located in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The seat of government for the municipality is the town Gómez Farías. Gómez Farías Municipality has an area of and a population in 2010 of 8,786. The town of Gómez Farías had a population of 883 in 2010. Mante, formally Ciudad Mante, is a city in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas. The city is the municipal seat of El Mante municipality in extreme southern Tamaulipas, and lies in the northwestern portion of the municipality.
