Alson (foaled 13 February 2017) is a German-bred Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the best German juveniles of 2019 when he won four of his six races including the Group 3 Zukunfts-Rennen and the Group 1 Critérium International as well as finishing second in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère. In the following year he ran second in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains and won the Prix Matchem. Background Alson is a bay colt with a prominent white star and snip and white socks on his hind legs bred in Germany by his owners Gestut Schlenderhan. He was sent into training with Jean-Pierre Carvalho in Germany. He was sired by Areion, a high-class German sprinter who won the Goldene Peitsche and two editions of the Holsten-Trophy. He went on to have a successful stud career in Germany siring many good winners including Vanjura (Premio Ribot), Wonnemond (Topkapi Trophy), Palace Prince ( Badener Meile) and Le Roi ( Queen Elizabeth Stakes (VRC). Jacob Alson Long
Jacob Alson Long (April 6, 1846 – October 4, 1923) was a prominent lawyer in Graham, North Carolina. He was also one of the organizers of the original North Carolina branch of the Ku Klux Klan during the Reconstruction Era. Childhood Jacob Alson Long was the sixth of eight children born to Jacob Long and Jane Long (''née'' Stockard). Among his brothers was William Samual Long, first president of Elon College. After graduating from the Graham Institute, Jacob enrolled in the Hyco Academy in Virginia after his brother, Joseph Gibbs Long, was killed in the Civil War in 1863. Jacob Alson Long served briefly in Captain Wright’s Company of the Virginia Heavy Artillery. Alson Sherman
Alson Sherman (April 21, 1811 – September 27, 1903) served as Mayor of Chicago, Illinois (1844–1845) as an Independent Democrat. Sherman was born to Nathanial Sherman and Deborah (Webster) on April 21, 1811, in Barre, Vermont. Sherman established the first sawmill in Chicago and served as the city's first iceman. In the three years before he was elected mayor, Sherman served as chief of Chicago's fire department. In 1844, Sherman ran for mayor of Chicago after an initial election was invalidated based on charges of "illegal proceedings and fraud." He ran as an Independent Democratic nominee against incumbent Democrat Augustus Garrett and Liberty Party nominee Henry Smith, winning the office with just over 50% of the vote. Alson Streeter
Alson Jenness Streeter (January 18, 1823 – November 24, 1901) was an American farmer, miner and politician who was the Union Labor Party nominee in the United States presidential election of 1888. He was also an early member of the National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry following its foundation in the 1860s and supported Granger Laws while in office. Early life and education Alson Streeter was born on January 18, 1823, in Rensselaer County, New York to Eleanor Kenyon and Roswell Streeter. The family later moved to Allegany County, New York in 1827 and Lee County, Illinois in 1836. He lived with his parents until his father's death in 1840, after which he became a miner and farmer. Alson Weber
Alson Menno Weber (; November 7, 1910 – December 29, 2005) was a Canadian volleyball player. He played for the Kitchener-Waterloo Y.M.C.A. Volleyball Team from 1932 to 1946. The K-W YMCA team won the Ontario Senior Open Championship every year from 1932-1946, the Eastern Canadian Championship all three times that it was held in that period, and also many International Tournaments which involved Ontario and New York State teams. In 1939 the K-W YMCA team competed at the United States National Championships. They were defeated by the Houston, Texas team, which went on to win the US national championship. Weber's teammates included Carl Dunke, Jim McLeod, Delton Kropf, Henry Enns, Arthur Youngman, Lloyd Current and Morton Devitt.
