First-class Cricket
First-class cricket, along with List A cricket and Twenty20 cricket, is one of the highest-standard forms of cricket. A first-class match is one of three or more days' scheduled duration between two sides of eleven players each and is officially adjudged to be worthy of the status by virtue of the standard of the competing teams. Matches must allow for the teams to play two innings each, although in practice a team might play only one innings or none at all. The etymology of "first-class cricket" is unknown, but it was used loosely before it acquired official status in 1895, following a meeting of leading English clubs. At a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference (ICC) in 1947, it was formally defined on a global basis. A significant omission of the ICC ruling was any attempt to define first-class cricket retrospectively. Niranjan Behera (born 2 May 1984) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Odisha. Early life Behera was born in 1984 in Cuttack of Odisha to Jayaram Behera and Manorama Behera. He has been married to a girl named Swagatika. He took admission to learn basics at a private cricket club based in Cuttack. Career Behera started his cricketing career as an Allrounder playing List-A cricket in 1999-00 Vijay Hajare Trophy for Odisha cricket team. He made his debut in the 2002–03 Ranji Trophy for Odisha. He last played for Odisha against Gujarat cricket team The Gujarat cricket team is one of three first-class cricket teams representing the state of Gujarat (the other two being the Baroda cricket team and Saurashtra cricket team). Gopal Bose
Gopal Bose ( ; 20 May 1947 – 26 August 2018) was an Indian cricketer. He played domestic cricket for Bengal and played one One Day International for India against England in 1974. Bose was born in Kolkata, Indian state of West Bengal. He was a relatively successful first-class player with an ability to play long innings. He was selected in the national team for the tour of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) where he impressed with a 194-run partnership with Sunil Gavaskar. He was again selected in the 14-member squad for the West Indies tour of 1974–75 but was surprisingly left out of the playing eleven and was never considered thereafter. He represented Bengal for the rest of his career with much success. In his career Bose had scored 3757 runs in 78 first-class games with eight hundreds and 17 fifties. He also took 72 wickets. Ranjib Biswal
Ranjib Biswal (born 21 September 1970) is a former Indian cricketer and the former Chairman of Indian Premier League. He played domestic cricket for the Odisha and represented India in Under-19 cricket, Captaining the side against Pakistan in four test matches played in India. After retiring from domestic cricket in 1997, Biswal has become an administrator and was made a member of the selection committee (representing East Zone) in 2005 under Kiran More. In 2006, when the committee was re-formed under Dilip Vengsarkar, Ranjib Biswal was retained for an additional term in 2006.
