Niranjan Behera (born 2 May 1984) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Odisha. Early life Behera was born in 1984 in Cuttack of Odisha to Jayaram Behera and Manorama Behera. He has been married to a girl named Swagatika. He took admission to learn basics at a private cricket club based in Cuttack. Career Behera started his cricketing career as an Allrounder playing List-A cricket in 1999-00 Vijay Hajare Trophy for Odisha cricket team. He made his debut in the 2002–03 Ranji Trophy for Odisha. Cuttack
Cuttack (, or officially Kataka ) in Odia is the former capital and the second largest city in the Indian state of Odisha. It is the headquarters of the Cuttack district. 2002–03 Ranji Trophy
The 2002–03 Ranji Trophy was the 69th season of the Ranji Trophy. Mumbai defeated Tamil Nadu by 141 runs in the final. Format The major change in the format of the tournament was the introduction of the Elite and Plate divisions. The 15 teams which qualified from the Zonal league in the previous season were placed in two groups in the upper Elite division. The top two teams from each group qualified for the semifinal and then played for the Ranji title. The remaining twelve teams played each other in two groups in the Plate division. They played the Plate semifinal and the final. The finalists qualified for the Elite division in the next year while the two lowest placed teams in the Elite division were demoted. Gujarat Cricket Team
The Gujarat cricket team is one of three first-class cricket teams representing the state of Gujarat (the other two being the Baroda cricket team and Saurashtra cricket team). Led by Parthiv Patel, Gujarat won their maiden Ranji Trophy title in the 2016–17 season, beating Mumbai in the final at Indore. In that match they made the highest successful run-chase in the final of the Ranji Trophy. It is in the Elite Group of the Ranji Trophy although it has had very little success. The Vijay Hazare Trophy, (officially known as Mastercard Vijay Hazare trophy for sponsorship reasons) also known as the Ranji One-Day Trophy, is an annual limited-overs cricket domestic competition involving state teams from the Ranji Trophy plates organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The tournament was started in the 2002-03 season and is named after the legendary twentieth-century Indian cricketer Vijay Hazare. Odisha Cricket Team
The Odisha cricket team (known as Orissa until 2011) is a domestic cricket team based in the Indian state of Odisha. It is in the elite group of the Ranji Trophy. Its main home ground is Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Home matches are also played at DRIEMS Ground in Cuttack, East Coast Railway Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Veer Surendra Sai Stadium in Sambalpur, KIIT Cricket Stadium in Bhubaneswar and other grounds. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps.
