Almendra (band)
Almendra was one of the most important rock music, rock groups from Buenos Aires, Argentina in the late 1960s. Led by guitarist and lyricist Luis Alberto Spinetta, Almendra released between 1968 and 1971 a few singles and two albums – ''Almendra (Almendra album), Almendra'' and ''Almendra II'' – that revolutionized the sound of Argentine rock for the remainder of the 20th century and almost single-handedly changed the way local rock music was perceived by critics and audiences. Widely compared to The Beatles by their local contemporaries, Almendra did not survive the 1960s and the making of a planned rock opera, though all individual members went on to form the backbone of Argentine rock in the 1970s. Luis Alberto Spinetta
Luis Alberto Spinetta (23 January 1950 – 8 February 2012), nicknamed "El Flaco" (Spanish for "skinny"), was an Argentine singer, guitarist, composer and poet. One of the most influential Rock music, rock musicians of Argentina, he is regarded as one of the founders of Argentine rock, considered the first incarnation of Rock en español, Spanish-language rock. Born in Buenos Aires in the residential neighbourhood of Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Belgrano, he was the founder of iconic rock bands including Almendra (band), Almendra, Pescado Rabioso, Invisible (band), Invisible, Spinetta Jade, and Spinetta y Los Socios del Desierto. Argentine rock (known locally as ''rock nacional'' , "national rock" in the sense of "local", "not international") is rock music composed or performed by Argentine bands or artists mostly in Spanish. Argentine rock began by recycling hits of English-language rock & roll. However a rising trend of composing new songs mostly in Spanish can be traced at late 1960s, when several garage groups and aspiring musicians began composing songs and lyrics that related to local social and musical topics. Capsula
Capsula are a Bilbao, Spain-based band from Buenos Aires, Argentina formed in 1998 by Martin L Guevara and Cyborg Coni Duchess. Their name is the Spanish word for capsule and derives from the David Bowie song "Space Oddity". Their album '' Solar Secrets'' (2013), produced by Tony Visconti, was described by ''Rolling Stone'' as "garage-glam heaven on a platter" and it called them "a dynamic compression of the Who, the Cramps and Sonic Youth in a high tide of psychedelia." History 1997–2002: Early career in Latin America: Sublime, Yudoka, Capsula. Berlin. Influenced as much by 1960s South American psychedelic rock as by garage rock, they started in Argentina in 1998. José Amalfitani Stadium
The José Amalfitani Stadium is a stadium located in the Liniers neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina, near Liniers railway station. The venue is the home of the Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sarsfield and is also known as ''El Fortín de Liniers'' or ''Vélez Sarsfield''. The stadium was named after José Amalfitani, who was president of Vélez Sarsfield for 30 years. The original, temporary stadium was built between 1941 and 1943 in wood, and the current facility was built in cement between 1947 and 1951. It was renovated and enlarged 26 years later in preparation for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has a capacity of 49,540 spectators, although it does not provide seating for all of them like most Argentine stadia. Estadio Obras Sanitarias (also known as Arena Obras Sanitarias and Templo del Rock) is an indoor arena that is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Pescado Rabioso
Pescado Rabioso (Rabid Fish) were an Argentinian rock band led by Argentine musician Luis Alberto Spinetta from 1971 to 1973. Initially a trio accompanied by drummer Black Amaya and bassist Osvaldo "Bocón" Frascino, they became a quartet with the addition of keyboardist Carlos Cutaia. Finally, David Lebón replaced Frascino in 1972 and featured on the album Pescado 2. In spite of their short life, they are still considered an important and influential piece of Argentine rock history. They were the second major band of Spinetta, created after Almendra's break up in the late 1960s and a seven-month trip through Brazil, United States and Europe. Although labeled under the band's name due to legal terms with his record company, Pescado Rabioso's final album ''Artaud'' is actually a complete solo effort from Spinetta. Color Humano
Color Humano was an Argentine rock group of the early 1970s. History The dissolution of Almendra yielded three new outfits, one of them being Color Humano. This power trio was a solid rock group, which would in 1972 release their debut album ''Color Humano'', following the Argentine rock etiquette of naming the first studio release after the band. The record is one of those unusual works that do not feature a hit song, but where the entire set of tracks as a whole become a thoroughly enjoyable listen, a mixture of acoustic rock songs and slightly harder edge ones. David Lebón would leave and be replaced by Oscar Moro. This change would shift the group's sound. Between March and June 1973, Color Humano recorded enough songs for a double album. Aquelarre was an Argentinian progressive rock band founded in 1971 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by ex- Almendra members: Emilio del Güercio and Rodolfo García.. The group relocated briefly to Spain, and disbanded in 1977. Career After the dissolution of Almendra in 1970, Argentine musicians Emilio del Güercio (bass) and Rodolfo García (drums) joined with Héctor Starc (guitar) and Hugo González Neira (keyboard) to form Aquelarre.
