Alma-Seidler-Ring
The Alma-Seidler-Ring was created in 1978 by the Austrian government as the female counterpart of the Iffland-Ring. Similar to that ring, the holder, or bearer, of the Alma-Seidler-Ring is considered to be the "most significant and most worthy actress of the German-speaking theatre", in the opinion of the previous holder who has passed it to her by will. The ring is named after the Austrian actress Alma Seidler (1899–1977). According to the widow of Werner Krauss Werner Johannes Krauss (''Krauß'' in German; 23 June 1884 – 20 October 1959) was a German stage and film actor. Krauss dominated the German stage of the early 20th century. However, his participation in the antisemitic propaganda film ''Jud S ..., holder of the Iffland-Ring from 1954–1959, he would have preferred to pass the ring to Seidler, had tradition not prevented him from willing it to a woman. Regina Fritsch
Regina Fritsch (born 1964) is an Austrian actress. She has been a member of the Burgtheater ensemble since 1985 and has been the holder of the Alma-Seidler-Ring since 2014. Life and career Fritsch completed her acting training at the Krauss drama school in Vienna, after having worked for a short time as a truck driver. In 1985, she joined the ensemble of the Burgtheater, where she debuted with the Cäcilie in Nestroy's ''Freiheit in Krähwinkel''. In addition to her stage work, she often plays in cinema and television productions. She portrayed the midwife in Joseph Vilsmaier's '' Brother of Sleep'' (1994) and worked in Erika Pluhar's ''Rosalinas Haus'' (1992) and ''Marafona'' (2001). She has two daughters from her divorced marriage with . With her daughter, actress , she was already on stage together in Vienna (2014/15 to 2018/19). The Iffland-Ring is a diamond-studded ring with a picture of August Wilhelm Iffland, a prominent German actor, dramatist and theatre director of the late 18th and early 19th century. The holder, or bearer, of the Iffland-Ring is considered to be the "most significant and most worthy actor of the German-speaking theatre", in the opinion of the previous holder who has passed it to him by will. Alma Seidler
Alma Seidler (1 June 1899 – 8 December 1977) was an Austrian actress. She was member of the Burgtheater for over 50 years. Biography Alma Seidler was born in Leoben, the daughter of Ernst Seidler von Feuchtenegg. The later Burgtheater director Albert Heine was her teacher and sponsor. From 1918 to 1977, she was actress at the Burgtheater and made her debut in Ibsen's ''Wildente'' in 1919. Since 1960, she was honorary member of the Burgtheater. She also performed at the Salzburg Festival. Seidler was married to the Burgtheater actor and director , with whom she had a son. She died in Vienna on 8 December 1977 and is buried in a grave of honor at the Vienna Central Cemetery. Paula Anna Maria Wessely (20 January 1907 – 11 May 2000) was an Austrian theatre and film actress. ''Die Wessely'' (literally "The Wessely"), as she was affectionately called by her admirers and fans, was Austria's foremost popular postwar actress. Biography She was born in Vienna, the daughter of butcher Carl Wessely, younger brother of the late Burgtheater actress Josephine Wessely (1860–1887). Like her adored aunt, Paula Wessely prepared for an artistic career. Annemarie Düringer
Annemarie Düringer (26 November 1925 – 26 November 2014) was a Swiss actress. She was born in Arlesheim, Basel-Landschaft. The daughter of a Swiss industrialist, she graduated from Cours Simon, Paris in 1946, and from the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna the following year, in 1947. In 1949 she became a member of the prestigious Vienna Burgtheater where she played major roles such as Queen Elisabeth in Schiller's '' Maria Stuart''. She remained in the ensemble of this theatre until her death. In 2004 she became patron of the Murau festival Shakespeare in Styria founded by Nicholas Allen and Rudolph J. Wojta.
