Allyre Louis Joseph Sirois (25 August 1923 – 8 September 2012)''Canadian Who's Who 2003'' (edited by Elizabeth Lumley), p. 1255 was a Canadian fransaskois judge of the Court of the Queen's Bench in Saskatchewan, Canada. Early life Sirois was born and raised in Vonda, Saskatchewan during his elementary-school years. His parents were Paul Emile Sirois and Bertha Pion Sirois. He was educated in several secondary schools, and then enrolled in the Radio College of Canada in Toronto (1940–1941). Wartime experience in occupied France In 1941 Sirois responded to the call to aid Great Britain in World War II by enrolling in the Canadian Army. Years later, he recalled that he thought it was his duty to do something against Nazism. He was initially assigned to the Signal Corps. Vonda, Saskatchewan
Vonda is located on Highway 27, a half-hour drive north east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The town was named after the daughter of American journalist Cy Warman. Vonda is home to the École Providence French language school providing Kindergarten to Grade 12, while Aberdeen Composite School in neighbouring Aberdeen provides Kindergarten to Grade 12 instruction in English. The town also contains the Paroisse St. Philippe de Neri Parish Roman Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church. The town is also home to the Vonda Memorial Rink. Roger Landes
Roger Arthur Landes, LdH CdeG MC & Bar (16 December 1916 – 16 July 2008), code named Stanislas and Aristide, was an agent of the United Kingdom's clandestine Special Operations Executive (SOE) organization during World War II in France. The purpose of SOE was to conduct espionage, sabotage, and reconnaissance in countries occupied by the Axis powers, especially Nazi Germany. SOE agents allied themselves with resistance groups and supplied them with weapons and equipment parachuted in from England. Landes was a wireless operator for the Scientist network in the Bordeaux region of France, and later became the "organiser" (leader) of the Actor network in the same region. After the liberation from German occupation of France in 1944, he joined Force 136 to subvert the Japanese occupation of Malaya. Vera Atkins
Vera May Atkins (15 June 1908 – 24 June 2000) was a Romanian-born British intelligence officer who worked in the France Section of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) from 1941 to 1945 during the Second World War. Early life Atkins was born Vera May Rosenberg in Galați, Kingdom of Romania, to Max Rosenberg (d. 1932), a German-Jewish father, and his British-Jewish wife, Zefra Hilda, known as Hilda (d. 1947). She had two brothers. Atkins briefly attended the Sorbonne in Paris to study modern languages and a finishing school at Lausanne, where she indulged her passion for skiing, before training at a secretarial college in London. Atkins' father, a wealthy businessman on the Danube Delta, went bankrupt in 1932 and died a year after. Atkins remained with her mother in Romania until emigrating to Great Britain in 1937, a move made in response to the threatening political situation in mainland Europe.
