Allard River
The Allard River is a tributary of the West shore of Lake Matagami which empties into the Nottaway River. The Allard River flows in the municipality of Eeyou Istchee Baie-James (municipality) in the Nord-du-Québec administrative region, in Quebec, in Canada. The Route 109 goes North along the West side of the upper Allard River. Then this road forks to the East, then to the North, to join the town of Matagami. The R1027 bridge spans the Allard River about South of its confluence with the Lake Matagami. From this bridge, this road goes up North, cuts the Gouault River, along the West bank of the Gouault River and Lake Matagami; then it goes further North to reach the territories East of James Bay. The Allard River flows entirely in forest and marsh areas, Southwest of Lake Matagami. The surface of the river is usually frozen from the beginning of December to the end of April. Nottaway River
The Nottaway River is a river in Quebec, Canada. The river drains Lake Matagami and travels north-west before emptying into Rupert Bay at the south end of James Bay. Its drainage basin is and has a mean discharge of 1190 m³/s (1556 yd³/s). Its source is the head of the Mégiscane River, which is from the mouth. Significant lakes along its course are Soscumica Lake () and Dusaux Lake (). The Nottaway, together with the Broadback and Rupert Rivers, was initially considered to be dammed and developed as part of the James Bay Project. But in 1972 hydro-electric development began on the more northerly La Grande and Eastmain Rivers, and the NBR Project was shelved. With the decision to divert the Rupert River to the La Grande, it is not likely that the Nottaway will be developed in the foreseeable future. Saint-François-du-Lac () is a community in the Nicolet-Yamaska Regional County Municipality of Quebec, Canada. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 1,957. It is located at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Saint-François rivers, at the edge of Lac Saint-Pierre (hence its name, "Saint-François of the lake"). Saint-François-du-Lac faces the town of Pierreville across the Saint-François River. Quebec routes 132 and 143 intersect in the community and connect it to others. Jules Allard
Louis-Jules Allard (21 January 1859 – 3 January 1945) was a Canadian politician in the province of Quebec. Life Born in Saint-François-du-Lac, Canada East, the son of Louis Allard and Marie-Anne Chapdelaine, Allard was educated at Nicolet College and the Université Laval in Montreal. A lawyer, he was called to the Quebec Bar in 1883 and was created a King's Counsel in 1906. He practice law in Montreal. He was mayor of Saint-François-du-Lac from 1895 to 1898. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Quebec for the electoral district of Yamaska in an 1897 by-election held after the death of Victor Gladu. A Liberal, he was re-elected without opposition in 1900 and 1904. In 1905, he was appointed to the Legislative Council of Quebec for the de Lanaudière division and was named the Government Leader in the Council. Algonquins
The Algonquin people are an Indigenous people who now live in Eastern Canada. They speak the Algonquin language, which is part of the Algonquian language family. Culturally and linguistically, they are closely related to the Odawa, Potawatomi, Ojibwe (including Oji-Cree), Mississauga and Nipissing, with whom they form the larger Anicinàpe (Anishinaabeg).
