All India Ophthalmological Society
Established in 1930, the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS) is a scientific body promoting study in the field of ophthalmology and promoting ophthalmic care and research in India. History Under the societies registration act of 1883, AIOS was established in 1930. In Jun 2022, ENTOD Pharmaceuticals collaborated with the All India Ophthalmological Society for the coordination of the 80th All India Ophthalmological Conference (AIOC) 2022. Publications The Indian Journal of Ophthalmology is a peer-reviewed open-access medical journal published on behalf of the society. It is sent periodically to all the members. An additional publication, AIOS Times is distributed periodically. Annual meetings AIOS holds an annual conference called the All India Ophthalmological Conference (AIOC) as part of the scientific proceedings of the society. AIOS 2017 was held in Jaipur. Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology ( ) is a surgical subspecialty within medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. An ophthalmologist is a physician who undergoes subspecialty training in medical and surgical eye care. Following a medical degree, a doctor specialising in ophthalmology must pursue additional postgraduate residency training specific to that field. This may include a one-year integrated internship that involves more general medical training in other fields such as internal medicine or general surgery. Open Access (publishing)
Open access (OA) is a set of principles and a range of practices through which research outputs are distributed online, free of access charges or other barriers. With open access strictly defined (according to the 2001 definition), or libre open access, barriers to copying or reuse are also reduced or removed by applying an open license for copyright. The main focus of the open access movement is "peer reviewed research literature". Historically, this has centered mainly on print-based academic journals.
