Alkaly Ndour
Alkaly Mamadou Ndour (born 2 March 1997) is a Senegalese basketball player for AS Douanes and . Professional career Ndour started his professional career in 2012 when he started playing for ASCC Bopp in the Senegalse Nationale 1. In 2016, he transferred to AS Douanes. Since the 2017–18 season, he is the starting point guard for the team. In May 2021, he played with Douanes in the 2021 BAL season. Ndour was the starting point guard for AS Douanes in the 2023 BAL season as well, an extremely successful season for the team as the Senegalese were the runners-up. National team career Alkaly plays for the Senegal national basketball team and after being in the pre-selection in 2018 and 2019, he made his debut in the AfroBasket 2021 qualifying rounds. The Nationale 1 Masculin (abbreviated as NM1; in English: National 1 Men) is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams. Each season is finished with a final in a single-game elimination format, held at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar. AS Douanes and ASFA are the most successful team in NM1 history with 10 won titles each. Basketball Africa League
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, similar to the format of the UEFA Champions League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) with sponsorship from Nike, Inc., Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi. Its 2021 BAL season, inaugural season started with the qualifying rounds in October 2019 and the regular season in May 2021. Association Sportive des Douanes, commonly known as AS Douanes, is a Senegalese basketball club from Dakar. Part of the Senegalese customs organisation, the team plays in the national top division Nationale 1 and is among the country's most decorated teams, having won 10 national titles. AS Douanes played and will play in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in the 2021 and 2023 seasons. The Senegalese Basketball Cup (french: Coupe du Senegal de basket) is an annual cup competition for men's basketball teams in Senegal. 2021 BAL Season
The 2021 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 1, was the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established as a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, the BAL is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA Africa Basketball League. The 2023 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 3, is the third season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The season began on 11 March 2023 and will end on 27 May 2023, with the playoffs and finals being played in the BK Arena in Kigali, which hosts the finals for a third season in a row. The regular season is played in Dakar, Senegal (Sahara Conference) and Cairo, Egypt (Nile Conference) for a second year in a row. FIBA AfroBasket 2021 was the 30th edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was hosted by Rwanda for the first time. It was originally scheduled to take place between 17 and 29 August 2021, but it was moved back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 24 August to 5 September 2021.
