Alison Waters
Alison Waters (born 19 March 1984 in London) is a former professional squash player from England. Career As a junior player, Waters won her first major squash tournament – the British Under-12 title – at the age of nine-and-a-half. She retained the title the following year. She was a three-time runner-up at the British Open Under-14 Championships. She won her first professional title in 2005 at the Forbes Open, beating Carla Khan in the final. Waters won the British National Squash Championships in February 2010, beating Jenny Duncalf in the final 10–12, 11–7, 4–11, 11–7, 12–10. Waters also won the championship in 2008 beating Laura Lengthorn-Massaro and finished as the runner-up in 2005, 2007 and 2009. Squash is a racket-and- ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. Squash At The 2022 Commonwealth Games
Squash is among the sports contested at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, to be held in Birmingham, England. This will be the seventh staging of squash at the Commonwealth Games since its debut in 1998, and the second staging within England specifically. Nicolette Fernandes
Nicolette Fernandes, (born June 19, 1983) is a professional squash player who represented Guyana. She won the only gold medal for Guyana at the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games in Colombia beating Samantha Terán in the final which lasts in 5 sets. In 2007, Fernandes suffered a knee injury which kept her out of action for 23 months. In February 2010, Fernandes was named Guyanese Sportswoman of the year for the year 2009 by the Guyanese National Sports Commission (NSC). Fernandes also appears in the WISPA 2010 calendar girl which features the top WISPA squash players in designer swimwear. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 19 in October 2013. On 28 August 2022, Fernandes became the first Guyanese to win a World Master's title when she secured a gold medal at the World Master's Championship in Poland. She is of Portuguese descent. The Official Women's Squash World Ranking is the official world ranking for women's squash. The ranking is to rate the performance level of female professional squash player. It is also a merit-based method used for determining entry and seeding in women's squash tournaments. The rankings are produced monthly. The current world number one is Nouran Gohar of Egypt, who replaced Raneem El Welily in July 2020. The WISPA, the WSA and the PSA has used a computerized system for determining the rankings since April 1984. Datuk Nicol Ann David (born August 26, 1983) is a retired female Malaysian professional squash player. Beginning in August 2006, David was the world number one for a record-breaking 108 consecutive months, finally ceding the ranking in September 2015 to Raneem El Weleily. She has won the World Open title a record 8 times in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014, as well as the British Open title in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. The WSA World Series (formerly known as the WISPA World Series) is a series of women's squash (sport), squash tournaments which are part of the Women's Squash Association (WSA) WSA World Tour 2014, World Tour for the 2014 squash (sport), squash season. The eight best-performing players in the World Series events qualify for the annual PSA World Series Finals, WSA World Series Finals tournament. Laura Jane Massaro (née Lengthorn; born 2 November 1983) is a retired professional squash player from England. Career She was born in Great Yarmouth and attended Albany High School, Chorley, which is now called Albany Academy. In July 2007, she married Danny Massaro and became Laura Lengthorn-Massaro. She subsequently dropped 'Lengthorn' from her name and is now known professionally as Laura Massaro. She won her first top-level title at the German Open in 2004 and went on to become British Open champion in 2013 and World Champion in 2014, so become the first Englishwoman to hold both titles at once. Jennifer Duncalf (born 10 November 1982) is a former professional squash player from England. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 2 in December 2009. Career Duncalf was born in Haarlem, Netherlands but was a pupil at Harrogate Grammar School where she attended from 1994-2001. As a junior player, she won the European Junior Championship title. Duncalf won the European Individual Championship title in 2006 and 2007, and the British National Championship title in 2007 and 2009. She was also a member of the England team which won the World Team Squash Championships in 2006. In 2008, she finished runner-up at the British Open (losing in the final to Nicol David). The British National Squash Championships are the national squash championships for players from the United Kingdom & Ireland. They are held annually in early February, currently in Nottingham. The Championships were inaugurated in 1974 are not to be confused with the British Open Squash Championships which is open to all nationalities and is the oldest squash tournament. Carla Khan (Urdu: کارلا خان; born 18 August 1981) is a British Pakistani professional Squash (sport), squash player. She is the granddaughter of Azam Khan (squash player), Azam Khan, one of the legends of squash in Pakistan and daughter of Jacqui Stoter and Wasil Khan.
