Alison Schumacher
Alison Schumacher (born 22 November 2002) is a Canadian figure skater who competes in women's singles. She is the 2020 Canadian national silver medallist. She has represented Canada at four ISU Championships, finishing within the top ten at two World Junior Championships (2019, 2020). Early life Alison Schumacher was born in Zhuzhou, China on 22 November 2002. She later moved to Tecumseh, Ontario. She began skating in 2007. At age 5, she went to Riverside Skating Club. Skating career At age 9, Schumacher competed in her first international competition, Skate Detroit, where she finished in fourth place. By age 11, Schumacher was the youngest solo skater at Skate Canada Development Camp. In the 2017–18 season, she competed in both junior ladies singles and junior pairs with Zachary Daleman. Alicia Pineault (; born July 26, 1999) is a Canadian figure skater. She is the 2016 Canadian national junior silver medalist and has represented Canada at two Four Continents Championships, finishing within the top ten in 2020. She has also competed on the Grand Prix series. Personal life Pineault was born on July 26, 1999, in Montreal. She studied at École Secondaire de Mortagne before enrolling at Cégep Édouard-Montpetit. Career Early career Pineault began learning to skate in 2003. Coached by Stéphane Yvars and Françoise Parisé in Boucherville, she won silver in the novice ladies' category at the 2015 Canadian Championships and silver in the junior ranks at the 2016 Canadian Championships. 2020 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2020 World Figure Skating Championships were scheduled to be held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, from March 16 to March 22, 2020. Figure skaters would have competed for the title of world champion in men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. This would have been the first time that Montreal hosted the World Figure Skating Championships since 1932. The competition was supposed to determine the entry quotas for each federation at the 2021 World Championships. The competition was cancelled on March 11 due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, with the possibility of being held later in the year, but not within the current season. Emily Bausback
Emily Bausback (born July 24, 2002) is a Canadian retired figure skater. She is the 2020 Canadian national champion. Career Bausback began learning to skate in 2005. She trains at the Champs International Skating Centre of BC at Scotia Barn in Burnaby, British Columbia, coached by Joanne McLeod. Toe Loop Jump
The toe loop jump is the simplest jump in the sport of figure skating. It was invented in the 1920s by American professional figure skater Bruce Mapes. The toe loop is accomplished with a forward approach on the inside edge of the blade; the skater then switches to a backward-facing position before their takeoff, which is accomplished from the skater's right back outside edge and left toepick. The flip jump (also called the flip) is a figure skating jump. The International Skating Union (ISU) defines a flip jump as "a toe jump that takes off from a back inside edge and lands on the back outside edge of the opposite foot".Media Guide, p. 15 It is executed with assistance from the toe of the free foot.
