Alireza Firouzja
Alireza Firouzja ( fa, علیرضا فیروزجا, ; born 18 June 2003) is an Iranian and French chess grandmaster. Firouzja is the youngest ever 2800- rated player, beating the previous record set by Magnus Carlsen by more than five months. A chess prodigy, Firouzja won the Iranian Chess Championship at age 12 and earned the Grandmaster title at 14. At 16, Firouzja became the second-youngest 2700-rated player and won a silver medal at the 2019 World Rapid Chess Championship. In November 2021, at 18, he won the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament and an individual gold medal at the European Team Chess Championship. He won a bronze medal at the 2021 World Blitz Chess Championship. Jaan Ehlvest (born 14 October 1962) is an Estonian-American chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster (chess), Grandmaster by FIDE in 1987. Ehlvest was Estonian champion in 1986. Since 2006, he has represented the United States. He was named Estonian Athlete of the Year in 1987 and 1989. From July 1990 to July 1991, he was among the top 10 on the FIDE world rankings, peaking at number 5 in the list of January 1991. Lu Shanglei (; born 10 July 1995) is a Chinese chess grandmaster and 2014 World Junior Chess Champion. Career In 2010, Lu played on the Chinese team (alongside Yu Yangyi, Wang Chen, and Wang Jue) that won the 5th Vladimir Dvorkovich Cup, a junior team competition held in Moscow. He was awarded by FIDE the title Grandmaster (GM) in October 2011. He achieved the norms required for the title in the same year at the Asian Individual Championship in Mashhad, Iran, and the 2nd Chairman Prospero A. Ivan Sokolov (chess Player)
Ivan Sokolov ( Cyrillic: Иван Соколов; born 13 June 1968) is a Dutch- Bosnian chess player and writer. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster (GM) by FIDE in 1987. Sokolov won the 1988 Yugoslav Championship and in 1995 and 1998 the Dutch Championship. Before earning the GM title, he became a FIDE Master in 1985 and an International Master in 1986. Romain Édouard (born 28 November 1990) is a French chess grandmaster. Born in Poitiers, Édouard has been playing chess since the age of five, and joined his first tournament in 2001. Alexey Sergeyevich Dreev (, also transliterated as Aleksey or Alexei; born 30 January 1969) is a Russian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 1989. Career While being a promising young chess talent, he was for a period coached by the world-class chess trainer Mark Dvoretsky. Dreev was world under 16 champion in 1983 and 1984, and the European junior champion in 1988. Gabriel Eduardi Sargissian ( hy, Գաբրիել Էդուարդի Սարգսյան, ''Gabriel Eduardi Sargsyan''; born 3 September 1983) is an Armenian chess grandmaster. He was a member of the gold medal-winning Armenian team at the Chess Olympiads in 2006, 2008 and 2012 and at the World Team Chess Championship in 2011. Evgenij Miroshnichenko (born December 28, 1978) is a Ukrainian chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2002. Miroshnichenko won the Ukrainian Chess Championship in 2003 and 2008. Also in 2003 he tied for 1st–3rd with Yuri Yakovich and Alexander Potapov in the Fakel Jamala tournament in Noyabrsk. Nigel David Short (born 1 June 1965) is an English chess grandmaster, columnist, coach, and commentator, who is the vice-president of FIDE since October 2018. Short earned the Grandmaster title at the age of 19, and was ranked third in the world by FIDE from July 1988 to July 1989.
