Alin Badea
Alin Badea (born 1 June 1988) is a Romanian sabre fencer, who won the team silver medal in the 2013 World championships. Biography Badea began fencing at age 10 at his local club, CS Slobozia, under coach Marin Mihăiță. In 2008 he transferred to CSA Steaua in Bucharest. Badea joined Romania's national team after the 2012 Summer Olympics and the retirement of three team members. With Tiberiu Dolniceanu as captain, Romania won a bronze medal in Madrid, their first World Cup tournament with the new team. For his first participation in World Championships, Badea made it to the table of 16, defeating world champion Aleksey Yakimenko along the way, before being stopped by Hungary's András Szatmári. In the team event, Badea proved instrumental in Romania's success. 2012 Summer Olympics
The 2012 Summer Olympics (officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad and also known as London 2012) was an international multi-sport event held from 27 July to 12 August 2012 in London, England, United Kingdom. The first event, the group stage in women's football, began on 25 July at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, followed by the opening ceremony on 27 July. 10,768 athletes from 204 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in the 2012 Olympics. 2014–15 Fencing World Cup
The 44th FIE Fencing World Cup began in October 2014 and concluded in July 2015 at the 2015 World Fencing Championships held in Moscow. Season overview This edition was the first to feature the new Grand Prix format, consisting in nine events, three in each weapon, men and women fencing together. World Cup and Grand Prix competitions were spread over ten months instead of six. The calendar overhaul was designed to allow more time for the athletes to train and rest as well as to increase media visibility. The season saw the opening of the qualifying path for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The first competition counting for Olympic qualification was held on the 2 and 3 May for all three weapons, an event dubbed as the "super weekend" in Italy. Gu Bon-gil
Gu Bon-gil ( or ; born 27 April 1989) is a South Korean right-handed sabre fencer. Gu is an eight-time team Asian champion, seven-time individual Asian champion, and three-time team world champion. A three-time Olympian, Gu is a two-time team Olympic champion. Early life A native of Daegu, Gu had played football all through elementary and middle school and went on to Osung High School, which was the alma mater of his 2012 Olympics teammate Oh Eun-seok. The fencing coach at Osung High School had already noticed him in middle school and persuaded him to switch sports. He majored in physical education at Dong-Eui University, then one of the few universities which had a fencing team. Gu was already selected for the youth national teams as a high school student and participated in the 2006 Cadet (Under 17) World Championships. Kamil Ibragimov
Kamil Anvarovich Ibragimov (russian: Камиль Анварович Ибрагимов; born 13 August 1993) is a Russian right-handed sabre fencer, two-time team European champion, and two-time team world champion. Personal life Ibragimov is the son of foil fencers Anvar Ibragimov and Olga Velichko and is of Tatar and Russian origin. He began fencing at the age of seven under the guidance of 1992 Olympic champion Aleksandr Shirshov, who remains his personal coach. Career Ibragimov is a Russian Armed Forces athlete, and his clubs are the Russian Central Sports Army Club and MGFSO. Amongst seniors, he made his breakthrough during the 2012–13 season, when he climbed his first World Cup podium with a gold medal in the Glaive d'Asparoukh after defeating Romania's Tiberiu Dolniceanu in the final. The 43rd FIE Fencing World Cup began in October 2013 and concluded in July 2014 at the 2014 World Fencing Championships held in Kazan. The World Cup medals were awarded during the FIE's gala dinner in Rome at Palazzo Colonna on 22 November 2014. Áron Szilágyi (; born 14 January 1990) is a Hungarian right-handed sabre fencer. Szilágyi is a 2018 team European champion, 2015 individual European champion, 2007 team world champion, and 2022 individual world champion. A four-time Olympian, Szilágyi is a three-time individual Olympic champion and 2021 team Olympic bronze medalist. Szilágyi competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the 2012 London Olympic Games, the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
