Alicia Giménez Bartlett
Alicia Giménez Bartlett (born 10 June 1951 in Almansa, Albacete, Spain) is a Spanish writer particularly known for her series of detective novels with protagonist Petra Delicado. Biography Her first novel, ''Exit'' was published in 1984. In 1997, she published ''Una habitación ajena'' (''A Faraway room'' in English) concerning the tensions between the lesbian writer Virginia Woolf and her servant "Nelly", and this won her the Premio Femenino Singular. The Petra Delicado novels have been published in various languages and are very popular in Germany and Italy. In 1999 Petra Delicado appeared as the protagonist of a television series. Four of her novels have been used for an Italian TV four-part series: ''Petra'', first broadcast in September 2020. In 2011 Bartlett won the Premio Nadal for ''Donde nadie te encuentre''. Almansa
Almansa () is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Albacete, part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. The name "Almansa" stems from the Arabic (al-manṣaf), "half way of the road". The municipality borders with Alicante, Valencia and Murcia. Almansa is famous for its '' Moros y cristianos'' festival from celebrated from 1 to 6 May. Almansa is built at the foot of a white limestone crag, which is surmounted by a Moorish castle, and rises abruptly in the midst of a fertile and irrigated plain. About south of the town centre stands an obelisk commemorating the Battle of Almansa fought there on 25 April 1707 during the War of Spanish Succession, in which a French, Spanish and Irish army under the command of duke of Berwick, a natural son of James II, routed the allied British, Portuguese and ''Spanish'' troops. Virginia Woolf
Adeline Virginia Woolf (; ; 25 January 1882 28 March 1941) was an English writer, considered one of the most important modernist 20th-century authors and a pioneer in the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device. Woolf was born into an affluent household in South Kensington, London, the seventh child of Julia Prinsep Jackson and Leslie Stephen in a blended family of eight which included the modernist painter Vanessa Bell. She was home-schooled in English classics and Victorian literature from a young age. Nellie Boxall
Nellie Boxall (1890-1965) was a domestic servant. She found notability working for Virginia Woolf. She also worked for Roger Fry and Charles Laughton. Woolf had suggested that she would make an interesting story in her diary and she noted that there were no maids in her father's '' Dictionary of National Biography''. Premio Nadal is a Spanish literary prize awarded annually by the publishing house Ediciones Destino, part of Planeta. It has been awarded every year on 6 January since 1944. The Josep Pla Award for Catalan literature is given at the same ceremony. The current monetary award stand at €18,000 for the winner and since 2010 there has been no runner-up. The Premio Planeta de Novela is a Spanish literary prize, awarded since 1952 by the Spanish publisher Grupo Planeta to an original unpublished novel written in Spanish. It is one of about 16 literary prizes given by Planeta. Financially, it is the most valuable literary award in the world for an author or book, with the winner receiving €1,000,000. It was created by José Manuel Lara Hernández in 1952 and is awarded on 15 October, St Teresa's day, Teresa being the name of Lara's wife.
