Alice Könitz
Alice Könitz (born 1970, Essen, Germany) is an artist based in Los Angeles. Her sculptures, films, and collages use a formal language that is influenced by the contemporary built environment and early modernism. Könitz studied at the Kunstakademie in Duesseldorf and at Cal Arts. She received an Akademiebrief from the Kunstakademie in Duesseldorf in 1996 and an MFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1999. Her work has been shown widely in the US and internationally. Essen
Essen (; Latin: ''Assindia'') is the central and, after Dortmund, second-largest city of the Ruhr, the largest urban area in Germany. The California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) is a private art university in Santa Clarita, California. It was incorporated in 1961 as the first degree-granting institution of higher learning in the US created specifically for students of both the visual and performing arts.
