Ali Shabanau (, born 25 August 1989 in Dagestan), also known as Ali Shabanov, is a Russian-born Avar people (Caucasus), Avar Freestyle wrestling, freestyle wrestler who represents Belarus that competed at the 2012 Olympics at Wrestling at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's freestyle 66 kg, 66 kg. 2012 Olympics Shabanau won his first match (round of 16) against Jared Frayer of the United States. Shabanau lost his next match (quarterfinal) to Jabrayil Hasanov of Azerbaijan. Shabanau's final placement at the 2012 Olympics was 10th place. Jabrayil Hasanov ( az, Cəbrayıl Həsənov, born on 24 February 1990 in Suparibağ, Astara, Azerbaijan, Soviet Union) is a male freestyle wrestler from Azerbaijan who has competed in the 66, 74 and 79 kg categories. He is an Olympic bronze medalist and multiple World Championships medalist. He is the winner of Yasar Dogu Grand-Prix . Career In 2010 and 2011 he won the European championships and finished third at the world championships. Next year he was fifth at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Jared Frayer (born October 7, 1978) of Miami, Florida is an American freestyle wrestler who won the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials at 66 kg and competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Early life Frayer was born in Miami, Florida but grew up in Clearwater, Florida where his father coached at Clearwater Countryside High School . He was a three-time Florida High School State Wrestling Champion. College career Frayer was a two-time NCAA All-American at the University of Oklahoma, with a best finish of 2nd place. He has since been an assistant wrestling coach with the Virginia Tech Hokies. Men's freestyle 66 kilograms competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom, took place on 12 August at ExCeL London. This freestyle wrestling competition consisted of a single-elimination tournament, with a repechage used to determine the winners of two bronze medals. The two finalists faced off for gold and silver medals. Each wrestler who lost to one of the two finalists moved into the repechage, culminating in a pair of bronze medal matches featuring the semifinal losers each facing the remaining repechage opponent from their half of the bracket. Each bout consisted of up to three rounds, lasting two minutes apiece. The Avars, also known as ''Maharuls'' ( Avar: , , "mountaineers") are a Northeast Caucasian ethnic group. The Avars are the largest of several ethnic groups living in the Russian republic of Dagestan. The Avars reside in the North Caucasus between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea.
