Ali Kaaf
Ali Kaaf (born 1977) is a Syrian-born German visual artist. His artistic style focuses on pictorial language, and works to connect the worlds of Beirut, Berlin, and the United States. Education Kaaf studied Visual Art from 1994 to 1998 at the Institut des Beaux-Arts in Beirut; and at the Universität der Künste Berlin (UdK) from 2000 to 2005. He studied under professors Marwan Kassab-Bachi and Rebecca Horn. Career Kaaf is influenced by European and Arab cultures and art traditions. His abstract art is inspired by important locations in his life—Damascus, Beirut, and Berlin—and concepts such as Sufi mysticism and Islamic philosophy. Oran
Oran ( ar, وَهران, Wahrān) is a major coastal city located in the north-west of Algeria. Dada
Dada () or Dadaism was an art movement of the European avant-garde in the early 20th century, with early centres in Zürich, Switzerland, at the Cabaret Voltaire (Zurich), Cabaret Voltaire (in 1916). New York Dada began c. 1915, and after 1920 Dada flourished in Paris. Dadaist activities lasted until the mid 1920s. MAXXI
MAXXI ( it, Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo, italic=no, "national museum of 21st-century arts") is a national museum of contemporary art and architecture in the Flaminio neighborhood of Rome, Italy. The museum is managed by a foundation created by the Italian ministry of cultural heritage. The building was designed by Zaha Hadid, and won the Stirling Prize of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 2010. History An international design competition for the design of the museum building was won by Zaha Hadid. Her submission included five separate structures, of which only one was completed. Solidere
Solidere s.a.l. is a Lebanese joint-stock company in charge of planning and redeveloping Beirut Central District following the conclusion, in 1990, of the Lebanese Civil War. By agreement with the government, Solidere has special powers of eminent domain as well as a limited regulatory authority codified in law, making the company a form of public-private partnership. James Mongrain
James Mongrain (b. ) is a Seattle-area glass artist. He was educated at Moorhead State University in Minnesota, then studied glassblowing at Massachusetts College of Art and Design and the Appalachian Center for Crafts. Mongrain lives in Everett, Washington and operates a studio in Mukilteo at a former salmon smokehouse. He is considered one of the leading artists of the studio glass movement in the Pacific Northwest, and has unique mastery of Venetian goblets, combining the techniques of using a mold and blown glass on the same piece. Mongrain has worked as a gaffer at Dale Chihuly's shop since 1996, including contributing to the '' Chihuly Over Venice'' show and the Bridge of Glass. Kinan Azmeh
Kinan Azmeh ( ar, كنان العظمة, Kinān Azme, born June 10, 1976, in Damascus), is a Syrian clarinet player and composer of contemporary music. Performing with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Seattle Symphony, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, or the Syrian Symphony Orchestra, he has played both as a soloist of classical works as well as of contemporary compositions. David Dawson, (born 4 March 1972) is a British dancer and choreographer. Since his career debut, Dawson has released over 20 creations. Noted for his atmospheric, emotionally physical pieces, Dawson received numerous honours and awards. Education and dance career Born in London, Dawson began to dance at the age of 7 and received his early training at the Rona Hart School of Dance and the Arts Educational School. He went on to train at the Royal Ballet School, in dance and choreography.
