Ali Gafarov
Ali Huseyn oglu Gafarov ( az, Əli Hüseyn oğlu Qafarov, 16 October 1935 – 19 December 1979) was an Azerbaijani writer and playwright. Gafarov was born in Synelnykove, Ukraine, but later moved with his family to Lankaran, Azerbaijan, where he finished middle school. In 1954 Gafarov entered the philological faculty of the Baku State University. Two years later he traveled to Moscow, where he entered the scenery art faculty of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography. In 1956–1960 Gafarov served a sentence in a Siberian prison camp for an alleged organization of a secret youth circle. In 1960–1962 Gafarov worked in topographic and drilling crews of Gidroenergoproyekt, Angara expedition and in the Soviet Ministry of the Power Plant Construction. In this period Gafarov published a novel ''Siberia'', which gained the attention of literary community. Synelnykove
Synelnykove (, ; , ) is a city and municipality in Synelnykove Raion, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (province) of Ukraine, the largest city in the south-eastern part of the region. It serves as the administrative center of the raion. It is named after the Russian governor Ivan Sinelnikov. Lankaran ( az, Lənkəran, ) is a city in Azerbaijan, on the coast of the Caspian Sea, near the southern border with Iran. As of 2021, the city had a population of 89,300. It is next to, but independent of, Lankaran District. The city forms a distinct first-order division of Azerbaijan. Baku State University (BSU) ( az, Bakı Dövlət Universiteti (BDU)) is a public university located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Established in 1919 by the Parliament of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, the university started with faculties of history and philology, physics and mathematics, and law and medicine, with an initial enrollment of 1094. The first rector of BSU was V.I.Razumovsky, a former professor of surgery at Kazan University. Aleksei (born Lazar) Yakovlevich Kapler (also Alexei, russian: link=no, Алексей (born Лазарь) Яковлевич Каплер; 28 September 1903 – 11 September 1979) was a prominent Soviet filmmaker, screenwriter, actor and writer. He was known as screenwriter of many Soviet movies, such as ''Lenin in 1918'', ''Amphibian Man'', '' The Blue Bird'' and '' Striped Trip'', as well as one of the anchors and directors of TV program ''Kinopanorama'' (a cinema overview). In 1941, Kapler was awarded the Stalin Prize. Natig Rasulzadeh (also spelled Natik via Russian; az, Natiq Rəsulzadə) is a contemporary Azerbaijani writer. He was born in Baku on June 5, 1949. At age 17, he was already publishing in “Youth of Azerbaijan” newspaper. After finishing high school, Rasulzadeh entered the Baku ''Polytechnic Institute'' (now Azerbaijan Technical University). However, four years later, he quit his studies and transferred to the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow, Russia. A prominent member of the Village Prose movement, he began writing short stories in his early teenage years and later transition to acting by his late 20s.
