Ali Al Badwawi
Ali Hamad Madhad Saif Al-Badwawi ( ar, علي حمد معضد سيف البدواوي; born 22 December 1972) is an Emirati football referee. Al-Badwawi became a FIFA referee in 2005. He was a referee at the 2007 and 2011 AFC Asian Cup, as well as the AFC Champions League. In international competitions, he officiated at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup and qualifiers for the 2010 and 2014 World Cups. In association football, the referee is the person responsible for interpreting and enforcing the Laws of the Game during a match. The 2011 AFC Asian Cup was the 15th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in Oceania Football Confederation, OFC, joined AFC in 2006. The AFC Champions League (abbreviated as ACL) is an annual continental club football competition organised by the Asian Football Confederation, and contested by Asia's top-division football clubs. It is the most prestigious club competition in Asian football, played by the national league champions (and, for some nations, one or more runners-up) of their national associations. The 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup was the fourteenth tournament of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, and the eleventh played since the change in age limits from under 16s to Under 17s in 1991. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) section of 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification was allocated four assured qualifying berths for the final tournament in South Africa and one place in a play-off. 43 teams were in the running for these spots, while Laos, Brunei and the Philippines did not enter qualification. The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) section of the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification saw 43 teams competing for 4 or 5 berths in the final tournament in Brazil.
