Alfredo Gachuz Lozada
Alfredo Gachuz Lozada (born 1 January 1999) is a Mexican professional gridiron football placekicker for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for Borregos Salvajes CEM and later professionally in the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA) with the Raptors de Naucalpan. Early life and education Gachuz was born on 1 January 1999 in Mexico. He grew up in Aguascalientes. He attended the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education where he studied civil engineering. He was a standout placekicker in college football for Borregos Salvajes CEM of the Organización Nacional Estudiantil de Fútbol Americano (ONEFA). A five-time league scoring leader, he finished second in league history in field goals made and converted a record 61-yard game-winning field goal in 2021. The conversion, try (American football, also known as a point(s) after touchdown, PAT, or (depending on the number of points) extra point/2-point conversion), or convert (Canadian football) occurs immediately after a touchdown during which the scoring team is allowed to attempt to score one extra point by kicking the ball through the uprights in the manner of a field goal, or two points by bringing the ball into the end zone in the manner of a touchdown. Attempts at a try or convert are scrimmage plays, with the ball initially placed at any point between the hash marks, at the option of the team making the attempt. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional Canadian football team based in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Roughriders compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West Division. The Roughriders were founded in 1910 as the Regina Rugby Club. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster.
