Alfred Forbin
Alfred J. Forbin (13 February 1872 – 14 August 1956) was a pioneering French stamp dealer who wrote an all-world catalogue of revenue stamps that has never been surpassed. The American Revenuer
The American Revenue Association was founded in 1947 and is a "non-profit corporation serving the needs and interests of all collectors of revenues, tax stamps, stamped paper, telegraph and railroad stamps, and general non-postal Back-of-the-Book material". The association is run by a board of directors assisted by officers. The president is Robert Hohertz. Revenue Stamps
A revenue stamp, tax stamp, duty stamp or fiscal stamp is a (usually) adhesive label used to designate collected taxes or fees on documents, tobacco, alcoholic drinks, drugs and medicines, playing cards, hunting licenses, firearm registration, and many other things. Typically, businesses purchase the stamps from the government (thereby paying the tax), and attach them to taxed items as part of putting the items on sale, or in the case of documents, as part of filling out the form. Yvert Et Tellier
Yvert et Tellier is a postage stamp dealer and a philatelic publishing company founded in 1895 in the northern French city of Amiens, where the head office is still located. The logo is a circle divided into a snowflake and a smiling sun. It is a pun on the name of the company: ''hiver, été liés'' ("winter, summer together") sounds a lot like the French pronunciation of ''Yvert et Tellier''. The family company was founded by Eugène Yvert in 1831 as a printing works for a legitimist newspaper. The switch to philately was decided 1895 by Eugène's grandson Louis Yvert and his chief printer Théodule Tellier. Nowadays the company is still run by the Yvert family. Revenue Society
The Revenue Society (originally ''The Revenue Society of Great Britain'') was formed in 1990 and is the only international philatelic society which covers revenue stamps of the whole world. The society is also noted for the particularly high quality of its journal which has published many articles on subjects about which little or nothing has previously been written. In 2007 the name of the society was shortened from ''The Revenue Society of Great Britain'' to just ''The Revenue Society'' in order to make the international nature of the society clear. Origins The first committee meeting took place at the ''East India Club'' in London on 3 March 1990 and the first open meeting followed on 10 May 1990. The Fiscal Philatelic Society (11 January 1902 – 1928) was an early twentieth-century British philatelic society that is seen as a predecessor to today's '' The Revenue Society''. The principal object of the society was the study of fiscal stamps, or, as they are more usually called today, revenue stamps. Philatelic publishing Morley was responsible for many early works on revenue, railway and telegraph stamps, as author or publisher.
