Alfortville () is a commune in the Val-de-Marne department in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the center of Paris. History The commune of Alfortville was created on 1 April 1885 from part of the commune of Maisons-Alfort. Transport Alfortville is served by two stations on Paris RER line D: Maisons-Alfort – Alfortville and Le Vert de Maisons. Jean-Eudes Maurice
Jean-Eudes Maurice (born 21 June 1986) is a professional footballer who plays for UR Namur in Belgium. He is a typical 'Number 9' striker known for his speed and accuracy. Born in France, he represents Haiti at international level and was a member of the squad at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Club career Maurice began his career playing for his amateur local club US Alfortville. After spending seven years at the club, he moved up divisions joining UJA Alfortville. While playing here, he was noticed by Paris Saint-Germain and joined the club in 2007. He started out with the reserves appearing in 33 matches and scoring three goals. Maisons-Alfort () is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the center of Paris. Maisons-Alfort is famous as the location of the National Veterinary School of Alfort. The Fort de Charenton, constructed between 1841 and 1845, has since 1959 housed the ''Commandement des Écoles de la Gendarmerie Nationale''. Name Originally, Maisons-Alfort was called simply Maisons. The name Maisons comes from Medieval Latin ''Mansiones'', meaning "the houses". At the creation of the commune during the French Revolution, the name of the hamlet of Alfort was joined with the name of Maisons. The name Alfort comes from the manor built there by Peter of Aigueblanche, Bishop of Hereford (England), in the middle of the 13th century. The name of this Manor of Hereford was corrupted into ''Harefort'', then ''Hallefort'', and eventually Alfort. RER D
RER D is one of the five lines in the (English: Regional Express Network), a hybrid commuter rail and rapid transit system serving Paris, France and its suburbs. The line crosses the region from north to south, with all trains serving a group of stations in central Paris, before branching out towards the ends of the line. The line connects Creil in the north to Melun and Malesherbes in the south, passing through the heart of Paris. Line D also links Gare du Nord with Gare de Lyon via Châtelet-Les Halles. Opened in stages from 1987 to 1996, it is the longest RER line by distance, and the busiest SNCF line in France, carrying up to 615,000 passengers and operating 466 trains each working day. Marten Yorgantz (born 24 June 1946 in Istanbul) is a popular French-Armenian singer and composer. He is recognized as a popular Armenian singer in Europe. He recorded 24 albums in different languages, mostly in Armenian, Italian and French. Among his well-known hits are "Chkuytik", "Hayi Achker", "Hayeren Ergenk", "Ayp, Pen, Kim", "Ay Maral Maral", "Partir pour ne plus revenir" and others. Ashtarak
Ashtarak (Armenian language, Armenian: ), is a town and urban municipal community in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia, located on the left bank of Kasagh River along the gorge, northwest of the capital Yerevan. It is the administrative centre of the Aragatsotn province. Ashtarak is an important crossroad of routes for the Yerevan–Gyumri–Vanadzor triangle. The town plays a great role in the national economy as well as the cultural life of Armenia through several industrial enterprises and cultural institutions. It has developed as a satellite town of Yerevan. The nearby village of Mughni is part of the Ashtarak municipality. As of the 2011 census, the population of the town was 18,834. Oshakan
Oshakan ( hy, Օշական) is a major village in the Aragatsotn Province of Armenia located 8 kilometers southwest from Ashtarak. It is well known to historians and pilgrims of the Armenian Apostolic Church as the site of the grave of Mesrop Mashtots, the inventor of the Armenian alphabet. History During the Arsacid Dynasty of the Kingdom of Armenia, it served as the main town of Ayrarat province and the capital of its Aragatsotn canton from which the Amatuni noble family ruled. However, Oshakan is best known for the Saint Mesrop Mashtots Church which is the burial place of Saint Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. The church houses his grave and was rebuilt by Catholicos George IV in 1875. Wall paintings on the interior were done in 1960 by the artist H. Minasian.
