Alfheimbjerg
Alfheimbjerg (meaning "Alfheim Mountain" in Danish) is a mountain in the King Frederick VI Coast, Sermersooq, southeastern Greenland. It is named after Álfheimr, the abode of the elves in Norse mythology. Geography This mountain is a nunatak that rises off the southwestern end of the Odinland peninsula, between the western side of the Fimbul Glacier terminus and the northern side of the terminus of the Bernstorff Glacier. To the northeast of Alfheimbjerg, on the opposite side of the Fimbul Glacier, rises the Brages Range by the confluence of the Sleipner Glacier. Fimbul Glacier ( da, Fimbulgletscher), is a glacier in eastern Greenland. This glacier was named after an Old Norse word for "giant" or "mighty". Geography The Fimbul Glacier originates in western Odinland, a glaciated peninsula. It flows southward from the area of the Ensomme Skraent ('Lonely Slope'), and joins the Sleipner Glacier from its left side just north of its terminus in the Bernstorff Fjord (Kangertittivaq) and west of the Brages Range. Bernstorff Glacier
Bernstorff Glacier ( da, Bernstorff Gletscher, also referred to as ''A.P. Bernstorf Gletscher''), is a glacier in the King Frederick VI Coast, Sermersooq, southeastern Greenland. Like the fjord, this glacier was named after Danish statesman Andreas Peter Bernstorff. Geography The Bernstorff Glacier is a fast-flowing glacier originating in the eastern side of the Greenland Ice Sheet. It flows roughly south/southeastward and is joined by a branch flowing from the north with the confluence west of Alfheimbjerg. Odinland
Odinland ( da, Odin Land), also ''Odinsland'' in the Defense Mapping Agency Greenland Navigation charts, is a peninsula in the King Frederick VI Coast, southeastern Greenland. It is a part of the Sermersooq municipality. The peninsula is fully exposed to the influence of the Greenland Ice Sheet. In spite of the proximity of the coast and despite being located south of the Arctic Circle, an ice cap climate prevails in Odinland. History Arctic explorer Wilhelm August Graah of the Danish Navy explored this area in 1828–30, during an expedition in search of the legendary Eastern Norse Settlement and named this lonely peninsula after Odin. A large icy coastal stretch was named "Colberger Heide" by Graah, owing to its shore being lined with active glaciers and ice cliffs. A nunatak (from Inuit ''nunataq'') is the summit or ridge of a mountain that protrudes from an ice field or glacier that otherwise covers most of the mountain or ridge. They are also called glacial islands. Examples are natural pyramidal peaks. When rounded by glacial action, smaller rock promontories may be referred to as rognons. Elves
An elf () is a type of humanoid supernatural being in Germanic mythology and folklore. Elves appear especially in North Germanic mythology. They are subsequently mentioned in Snorri Sturluson's Icelandic Prose Edda. He distinguishes "light elves" and "dark elves".
