Bishop
A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution. In Christianity, bishops are normally responsible for the governance of dioceses. The role or office of bishop is called episcopacy. Diocese of Kon Tum ( la, Dioecesis Kontumensis, links=no) is a Roman Catholic diocese of Vietnam. The bishop since 2015 is Aloysius Gonzaga Nguyễn Hùng Vị. More than 16% of the million persons living in its area are Roman Catholics. Many of them belong to ethnic minorities. The diocese covers an area of 25,728 km² of central Vietnam. It is a suffragan diocese of the Archdiocese of Huế. It was erected as a Vicariate Apostolic on January 18, 1932. On November 24, 1960, it was elevated to a diocese. Paul-Léon Seitz (22 December 1906 - 23 February 1984) was a French bishop in the Catholic Church. He was ordained as a bishop in 1952 and named as the titular bishop of the church's Catula titular see. From 1960 to 1975, he served as the Bishop of Kontum, a Central Highlands region of Vietnam known for its Montagnard tribes. Seitz was dedicated to medical and social welfare for the Montagnaard people. Jean-Baptiste Urrutia
Jean-Baptiste Urrutia (born 6 November 1901, Les Aduldes, Basses-Pyrénées, France – died 15 January 1979, Montbeton, France) was a French Roman Catholic missionary from the Paris Foreign Missions Society. He was an attendee at the Second Vatican Council. Ordained in 1925, he was sent to Annam in French Indochina. He taught at the An Ninh Minor Seminary, where he had François-Xavier Nguyễn Văn Thuận as a student. He ordained Thuận in 1953.
