Alexis O'Hara
Alexis O'Hara is a Canadian transdisciplinary performer, born in Ottawa, Ontario, and currently living and working in Montreal, Quebec. Since 1997, she has been active in the Montreal cabaret and experimental music scenes. O'Hara ran the Montreal poetry slam for several years before switching her focus to vocal and electronic music and interactive performance projects. ''Subject to Change'' and ''The Sorrow Sponge'', two projects in which audience participation and electronic clothing are elements, have toured Canada, the United Kingdom, and Belgium. Her live and recorded work concerns itself with language, anthropomorphism, the human brain and heart, and social order. In 2009, she began working on immersive, interactive sound installations. Grenadine Records
Grenadine Records was an independent record label based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The music label was founded in 1997 by Eric Y. Lapointe and Alex Megelas who met at Bishop's University's radio station CJMQ-FM. The label, initially named Bittersweet Records, released two 7" vinyl records and then changed its name in 1999 when a New York City-based label of the same name was discovered. The label was officially announced as Grenadine Records as of March 1999 along with its first CD release Syrup & Gasoline Vol.1 which was a compilation of bands from across Canada. The label's tagline of "''Timeless Pop Attitude''" reflected the label's interest in a variety of pop music with sometimes earlier influences. Drag King
Drag kings are mostly female performance artists who dress in masculine drag and personify male gender stereotypes as part of an individual or group routine. A typical drag show may incorporate dancing, acting, stand-up comedy and singing, either live or lip-synching to pre-recorded tracks. Drag kings often perform as exaggeratedly macho male characters, portray marginalised masculinities such as construction workers and rappers or they will impersonate male celebrities like Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Tim McGraw.
