Alexandria Technical College
Alexandria Technical and Community College is a public community college in Alexandria, Minnesota. It is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) system. Approximately 3,500 students are enrolled, with about 45% of those students being enrolled full-time. Alexandria, Minnesota
Alexandria is a city in and the county seat of Douglas County, Minnesota, United States. First settled in 1858, it was named after brothers Alexander and William Kinkead from Maryland. The form of the name alludes to Alexandria, Egypt, a center of learning and civilization. The village of Alexandria was incorporated February 20, 1877. Its city charter was adopted in 1908, and it was incorporated as a city in 1909. W. E. Hicks was pivotal to the town's early development. He purchased the townsite in 1868 and established a mill, hotel, newspaper, and store. He donated property for a courthouse, jail, and two churches: Methodist and Congregational. Minnesota College Athletic Conference
Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) - formerly the Minnesota Community College Conference - is a junior college collegiate athletic conference in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and they compete primarily at the NJCAA Division III level in most sports. The 23 member institutions are located exclusively in the Midwest, including Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Football and Wrestling are single-division sports in the NJCAA. The MCCC was established in the fall of 1967. In 2017, the MCAC partnered with USA High School Clay Target League to form the first two-year college varsity Clay Target league. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), founded in 1938, is the governing association of community college, state college and junior college athletics throughout the United States. Janice Ettle (born December 3, 1958) is an American middle-distance and long-distance runner, winner of major marathons and top finisher in dozens of road races, as well as a competitor at the 1987 World Marathon Cup and fourth-place finisher at the Havana, Cuba, 1991 Pan American Games women's marathon. Ettle was a five-time competitor at the US Olympic Marathon Trials. Professional career In 1980, she won the Las Vegas Celebrity Sun Marathon in 2:47:50. In 1982, Ettle won Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota in 2:41:21. She also came in second in the Honolulu Marathon that year (2:43:46). Twin Cities Marathon
The Twin Cities Marathon (TCM) is an annual marathon in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area which normally takes place the first weekend in October. The race is often called "The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America" due to a course that winds through downtown districts, then along parkways that hug lakes and waterways all throughout dense urban forests in the neighborhoods of both cities. The first Twin Cities marathon took place on October 3, 1982 after both Minneapolis and St. Paul combined their separate marathon events. Its earliest predecessor, the Land of Lakes Marathon, began in 1963. It is one of the top 10 largest marathons in the US.
