Alexandra Grande
Alexandra Vanessa Grande Risco (born 5 February 1990) is a Peruvian karateka. She is a two-time gold medalist in the women's 61kg event at the Pan American Games. She also won bronze in this event at the 2021 World Karate Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In 2021, Grande represented Peru at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She competed in the women's 61kg event. Career Grande won the bronze medal in the women's 61kg event at the 2010 World Combat Games held in Beijing, China. She represented Peru at the 2017 World Games held in Wrocław, Poland and she won the gold medal in the women's kumite 61kg event. Grande defeated Anita Serogina of Ukraine in her gold medal match. In 2018, Grande won the silver medal in the women's kumite 61kg event at the South American Games held in Cochabamba, Bolivia after a defeat in the final against Jacqueline Factos of Ecuador. The women's kumite 61 kg competition in Karate at the 2020 Summer Olympics was held on 6 August 2021 at the Nippon Budokan. Competition format The competition began with a two-pool round-robin stage followed by a single elimination stage. Each pool consisted of five athletes, with those positioned 1st and 4th seeded to Pool A, and those positioned 2nd and 3rd to Pool B. The athlete that finished first in Pool A faced the athlete that finished second in Pool B in the semifinals, and vice versa. There were no bronze medal matches in the kumite events. World Combat Games
The World Combat Games is an international multi-sport event featuring combat sports and martial arts. The games were founded by SportAccord (now known as the Global Association of International Sports Federations) as a way of bringing various martial arts and combative sports to an international audience. The World Combat Games are also accompanied by a cultural program that reflects the ancient traditions and values of martial arts as well as their contribution to modern society. The Bolivarian Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Bolivarianos'', full name ''Juegos Deportivos Bolivarianos'') are a regional multi-sport event held in honor of Simón Bolívar, and organized by the Bolivarian Sports Organization (''Organización Deportiva Bolivariana'', ODEBO).
