Alexander Williams (artist)
Alexander Williams RHA (21 April 1846 – 15 November 1930) was an Irish landscape and marine painter. He was also an ornithologist, taxidermist, and professional singer. Early life and family Alexander Williams was born at the house of his aunt on The Diamond in Monaghan Town on 21 April 1846. His father was William Williams, a hatter. He attended Drogheda Grammar School. He was raised in Drogheda in County Louth, where the family lived over the family business, a hatters and shop. The Williams had been hatters for a number of generations, dating back to an ancestor who settled in Ireland in the 1600s from Glamorganshire who was a felter. In 1860 the family moved to Dublin, living at May 1860 to 19 Bayview Avenue, North Strand, Dublin. The Williams first Dublin hat shop was on Westmoreland Street. Alexander Williams (born 18 October 1967 in London) is an English film cartoonist and animator. He is the son of animator Richard Williams. He has worked on many animated films, and is the author of the ''Queen's Counsel'' cartoon strip in ''The Times'', for which he was awarded the Cartoon Art Trust Award for Strip Cartooning in October 2017. Early life Williams was born in London in 1967, the son of Canadian animator Richard Williams. Alexander Williams (British Army Officer)
Major General Edward Alexander Wilmot Williams, (8 June 1910 – 2 November 1994) was a British Army officer who served in the Second World War and later commanded the 2nd Division from 1960 to 1962. Military career Alexander Williams was born on 8 June 1910 in Herringston House, Dorchester, Dorset, England, the son of Captain Berkeley Cole Wilmot Williams, a British Army officer, and the Hon. Winifred Mary Williams, the elder daughter of the second Lord Addington. He was educated at Eton College before attending the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, from where he was commissioned as a second lieutenant into the King's Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) on 28 August 1930. He was posted to the 2nd Battalion, KRRC, then serving in Tidworth, Wiltshire, before the battalion moved in 1932 to Northern Ireland. Sandy Williams
Alexander Balos Williams (October 24, 1906 – March 25, 1991) was an American jazz trombonist, perhaps best known for playing with the premier big bands of his day, especially the Chick Webb orchestra. Williams also recorded extensively with Ella Fitzgerald. Early life The son of a preacher, Williams was born in Summerville, South Carolina. The family of thirteen moved to Washington D.C. when Williams was very young however, the siblings lost their parents six months apart and were sent to an St. Joseph's Industrial School, an orphanage in Delaware. There he joined the school band, but was put on tuba rather than trombone despite his requests. He began taking private lessons while attending Armstrong High School and occasionally played with his professor's sons. Williams played with several bands before he started playing with the Lincoln Theater pit band.
