Theodor Alexander Viktor Ernst von Schoeler was a Prussian General of the Infantry (Germany), General of the Infantry who served in the Austro-Prussian War and the Franco-Prussian War through several battles. Biography Origin Alexander was a son of the later Prussian general and Director of the General War Department Moritz von Schoeler and his wife Eleonore, née Burgräfin and Countess von Dohna-Lauck. His paternal grandfather was Major General Johann Friedrich Wilhelm von Schoeler, and his maternal grandfather was Major General August Burggraf und Graf zu Dohna-Lauck. His uncle, Friedrich von Schoeler, was a Prussian general and Knight of the Order of the Black Eagle. Military career Schoeler joined the Prussian Army on April 28, 1824. Battle Of Beaumont
The Battle of Beaumont on 30 August 1870 was won by Prussia during the Franco-Prussian War. It was fought between the French V Corps under general Pierre Louis Charles de Failly, and IV Corps under general Constantin von Alvensleben, XII Corps under Prince Georg of Saxony along with the I Royal Bavarian Corps under general Ludwig Freiherr von der Tann. The French were surprised in their cantonments and driven back upon Mouzon, with losses of 7,500 men and 42 guns to the Germans' 3,400. Guards Corps (German Empire)
The Guards Corps/GK (german: Gardekorps) was a corps level command of the Prussian and then the Imperial German Armies from the 19th century to World War I. The Corps was headquartered in Berlin, with its units garrisoned in the city and nearby towns (Potsdam, Jüterbog, Döberitz). Unlike all other Corps of the Imperial German Army, the Guards Corps did not recruit from a specific area, but from throughout Prussia and the "Imperial Lands" of Alsace-Lorraine. The Corps served in the Austro-Prussian War. During the Franco-Prussian War it was assigned to the 2nd Army. In peacetime the Corps was assigned to the II Army Inspectorate but joined the 2nd Army at the start of the First World War. The Royal Prussian Army (1701–1919, german: Königlich Preußische Armee) served as the army of the Kingdom of Prussia. It became vital to the development of Brandenburg-Prussia as a European power. The Order of the Black Eagle (german: Hoher Orden vom Schwarzen Adler) was the highest order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Prussia. The order was founded on 17 January 1701 by Elector Friedrich III of Brandenburg (who became Friedrich I, King in Prussia, the following day). In his Dutch exile after World War I, deposed Emperor Wilhelm II continued to award the order to his family. The Military Order of Max Joseph (german: Militär-Max-Joseph-Orden) was the highest military order of the Kingdom of Bavaria. It was founded on 1 January 1806 by Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria, the first king of Bavaria.
