Alexander Grigorievich Tikhanovich ( be, Аляксандр Рыгоравіч Ціхановіч; 13 July 1952 – 28 January 2017) was a Soviet and Belarusian pop singer, former member of the ensemble Verasy. He was named Honored Artist and People's Artist (Belarus). From 2006 to 2009, Alexander Tikhanovich headed the national TV music project Eurofest Belarusian selection round for the international Eurovision Song Contest. People's Artist is an honorary title in the Soviet Union, Union republics, in some other Eastern bloc states (and communist states in general), as well as in a number of post-Soviet states, modeled after the title of the People's Artist of the USSR. Yadviga Konstantinovna Poplavskaya ( be, Ядвіга Канстанцінаўна Паплаўская, russian: Ядвига Константиновна Поплавская born 1 May 1949) is a Soviet and Belarusian singer, member of the first ensemble Verasy and a People’s Artist of Belarus (2005). Biography Born into a musical family, her father, choirmaster Konstantin Poplavsky, together with Gennady Tsitovich created Belarusian State Folk Choir. Poplavskaya graduated from Belarusian Conservatory twice - in piano (1972) and separation of composition (1988). In 1971, she was among the founders of the Minsk-based VIA "Verasy". In the ensemble she played keyboards, sung vocals, and wrote arrangements. In 1973, Alexander Tikhanovich came to the ensemble (bass guitar, vocal, trumpet), who later became the husband of Poplavskaya.
