Alexander Mitchell (Canadian Politician)
Alexander Mitchell (July 27, 1912 – July 26, 2003) was a farmer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Bengough from 1966 to 1971 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born on the family farm in Cardross, Saskatchewan and was educated there and in Moose Jaw Moose Jaw is the fourth largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada. Lying on the Moose Jaw River in the south-central part of the province, it is situated on the Trans-Canada Highway, west of Regina. Residents of Moose Jaw are known as Moose Javians .... In 1935, Mitchell married Mary Gall. He earned a pilot's license and later purchased his own airplane; he was an active member of the Saskatchewan Flying Farmers Association. Mitchell was first elected to the assembly in a 1966 by-election held following the death of Samuel Asbell. Legislative Assembly Of Saskatchewan
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan is the legislative chamber of the Saskatchewan Legislature in the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Bills passed by the assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, in the name of the King in Right of Saskatchewan. The assembly meets at the Saskatchewan Legislative Building in Regina. There are 61 constituencies in the province, which elect members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) to the Legislative Assembly. All are single-member districts, though the cities of Regina, Saskatoon and Moose Jaw were in the past represented through multi-member districts, with members elected through Block Voting. The Saskatchewan Liberal Party is a liberal political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The party was the provincial affiliate of the Liberal Party of Canada until 2009. Samuel Karnarvon Asbell (October 24, 1914 – October 10, 1965) was a farmer, farm implement dealer and political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Bengough from 1964 to 1966 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the son of Joseph Asbell and Margaret Bookhalter, and was educated in Horizon, Saskatchewan Horizon, located on the south side of Channel Lake, is a Hamlet (place), hamlet in Bengough No. 40, Saskatchewan, Bengough Rural Municipality No. 40, Saskatchewan, Canada.
