Alex Loughton
Alexander Michael Loughton (born 3 May 1983) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Cairns Marlins of the NBL1 North. Junior and college career As a junior, Loughton played basketball with the Wanneroo Basketball Association. He played for the Wolves' SBL team between 2000 and 2002, while also spending a season with the Australian Institute of Sport in the SEABL in 2001. Additionally, with the Australian Under-20 team, he averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds. In 2002, Loughton moved to the United States to play college basketball for Old Dominion University. In 124 games over four seasons, he made 120 starts and averaged 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 28.1 minutes per game. As a junior in 2004–05, he was named CAA Player of the Year. In October 2009, Loughton was named to the CAA's 25th Anniversary Team. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. Colonial Athletic Association
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I whose full members are located in East Coast states from Massachusetts to South Carolina. Most of its members are public universities, and the conference is headquartered in Richmond. The CAA was historically a Southern conference until the addition of four schools in the Northeast (of five that joined from rival conference America East) after the turn of the 21st century, which added geographic balance to the conference. The CAA was founded in 1979 as the ECAC South basketball league. It was renamed the Colonial Athletic Association in 1985 when it added championships in other sports (although a number of members maintain ECAC affiliation in some sports). Stephen Weigh
Stephen Weigh (born 28 February 1987) is an Australian former professional basketball player who spent 10 seasons in the National Basketball League (Australia), National Basketball League (NBL). He started his NBL career in 2008 after a two-year college stint at Utah Utes men's basketball, Utah. He won his only NBL Championship in 2010 with the Wildcats before joining the Adelaide 36ers in 2011. After two seasons with the 36ers, Weigh returned to his home state of Queensland and played out his final five seasons with the Cairns Taipans. The New Zealand Breakers (also known as the Sky Sport Breakers for sponsorship reasons) are a New Zealand professional basketball team based in Auckland. The Breakers compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at multiple venues, mainly Spark Arena.
