Aleksandra Čamagić
Aleksandra Čamagić ( sr-Cyrl, Александра Чамагић; born 1985) is a politician and administrator in Serbia. She briefly served in the National Assembly of Serbia in 2020 as a member of the Serbian Patriotic Alliance (''Srpski patriotski savez'', SPAS) and is now an assistant minister in the country's ministry of family welfare and demography. Early life and career Čamagić was born in Belgrade, in what was then the Socialist Republic of Serbia in the Socialist Federal Republic Yugoslavia. She is a graduate of the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Philology and is a professor of English language and literature. She served as director of the New Belgrade Cultural Network until her resignation on 28 December 2020. Serbian Progressive Party
The Serbian Progressive Party ( sr-cyrl, Српска напредна странка, Srpska napredna stranka, SNS) has been the ruling political party of Serbia since 2012. Founded by Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić in 2008 as a split from the far-right Serbian Radical Party (SRS), the SNS served in opposition to the Democratic Party (DS) for the next several years. Running on an anti-corruption platform, it managed a strong performance in the 2009 Belgrade local elections, and in the same year, became the strongest opposition party. Aleksandar Šapić
Aleksandar Šapić ( sr-cyrl, Александар Шапић; born 1 June 1978) is a Serbian politician, and former professional water polo player serving as mayor of Belgrade since 20 June 2022. A member and current vice-president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Šapić had previously served as president of the New Belgrade municipality from 2012 to 2022. Šapić was previously a member of the Democratic Party (DS) until 2014, and he later led the Serbian Patriotic Alliance until the merger into SNS which occurred in May 2021. 2016 Serbian Local Elections
Local elections were held in most cities and municipalities of Serbia (excluding the disputed territory of Kosovo) on 24 April 2016, with repeat voting later taking place in some jurisdictions. The elections were held concurrently with the 2016 Serbian parliamentary election and the 2016 Vojvodina provincial election. Elections were not held for the City Assembly of Belgrade, as its members were elected on a different four-year cycle (although local assembly elections were held in the City of Belgrade's constituent municipalities).
