Aleksandr Mikhaylovich Korotkov
Aleksandr Mikhaylovich Korotkov (russian: Алекса́ндр Миха́йлович Коротко́в; 22 November 1909 - 27 June 1961) was a Soviet intelligence officer and operative with the rank of major general. He became chief of foreign reconnaissance in the Soviet occupation zone of Germany in 1947 and chief of the KGB while he was stationed in East Germany in 1957. Korotkov was most notable as the intelligence officer who recruited Arvid Harnack in September 1940 and Harro Schulze-Boysen later in Berlin during the Nazi regime, effectively changing a resistance organisation who fought against Hitler into the espionage organisation known as the Red Orchestra. Korotkov was an associate of Ivan Serov. Life Korotkov's father, Mikhail Korotkov was a banker who worked before the revolution at the Russo-Asiatic Bank in the Chinese city of Kuldzha. The Joint State Political Directorate (OGPU; russian: Объединённое государственное политическое управление) was the Intelligence agency, intelligence and state security service and secret police of the Soviet Union from 1923 to 1934. Vyacheslav Rudolfovich Menzhinsky (russian: Вячесла́в Рудо́льфович Менжи́нский, pl, Wiesław Mężyński; 19 August 1874 – 10 May 1934) was a Polish-Russian Bolshevik revolutionary, Soviet statesman and Communist Party official who served as chairman of the OGPU from 1926 to 1934. Central Dynamo Stadium was a stadium in Moscow, Russia. It was built in 1928 and held 36,540 people. It was the home ground for Dynamo Moscow. It was central venue of the All-Soviet Dynamo sports society and carried special name of ''Central'' to denote its importance. Pavel Mikhailovich Korotkov (russian: Павел Михайлович Коротков; July 24, 1907 in Moscow, Russia – September 23, 1983 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union) was a Russian ice hockey player, coach, as well as a football and bandy player. Career Korotkov played football for Dynamo Moscow from 1923 to 1940 and CDKA Moscow from 1941 to 1946.
