Alejandro Saravia (writer)
Alejandro Saravia is a Bolivian-Canadian writer, born in Cochabamba (Bolivia). Biography Bornin Cochabamba, Bolivia, Saravia currently lives in Brossard, Quebec, Canada, and works as a journalist in Montreal. He studied Communication at the Catholic University, and Literature at the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (La Paz), as well as at the University of Montreal and the University of Ottawa (Canada). The publication of his novel, ''Rojo, amarillo y verde'' (2003), which is about the last Bolivian coup d'État and the experiences of its central character, Alfredo Cutipa, in Canada, made him one of the contemporary Latino-Canadians dedicated to the topic of immigration and identity construction in a multicultural context. Cochabamba
Cochabamba ( ay, Quchapampa; qu, Quchapampa) is a city and municipality in central Bolivia in a valley in the Andes mountain range. It is the capital of the Cochabamba Department and the fourth largest city in Bolivia, with a population of 630,587 according to the 2012 Bolivian census. Its name is from a compound of the Quechua words ''qucha'' "lake" and '' pampa'', "open plain." Residents of the city and the surrounding areas are commonly referred to as ''cochalas'' or, more formally, ''cochabambinos''. Gabriela Etcheverry
Gabriela Etcheverry (born 1946) is a Chilean-Canadian writer, translator and literary critic who is also known for her role in Hispanic-Canadian cultural life. Biography Etcheverry was born in a poor district of Coquimbo in Chile. She worked as a teacher in the capital Santiago where she married. She arrived in Canada with little skill in either French or English. She however received her PhD in literature at Laval University, Quebec. She has two MA degrees (Comparative Literature and Spanish) from Carleton University, Ottawa. She taught courses in language, literature, culture and civilization at Carleton University and at other agencies in Ottawa, Canada, and currently works in translation and interpretation. She has published novels, short stories, poems, essays, reviews and reports.
