Blackhead, Newfoundland And Labrador
Small Point-Adam's Cove-Blackhead-Broad Cove is a town in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador, located in the Trinity-Conception Bay District north of Carbonear. The town was incorporated in 1968 by amalgamating the independent fishing villages of Small Point, Adam's Cove, Blackhead and Broad Cove. The neighbouring community of Kingston was originally part of the amalgamation, but withdrew in 1976. The town had a population of 414 in the Canada 2021 Census. Newfoundland was a British dominion in eastern North America, today the modern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It was established on 26 September 1907, and confirmed by the Balfour Declaration of 1926 and the Statute of Westminster of 1931. It included the island of Newfoundland, and Labrador on the continental mainland. Harbour Grace is a town in Conception Bay on the Avalon Peninsula in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. With roots dating back to the 16th century, it is one of the oldest towns in North America. It is located about northwest of the provincial capital, St. John's. Carbonear-Harbour Grace is a defunct provincial electoral district for the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. In 2011 there were 9,205 eligible voters living within the district. Being a regional services centre heavily influences the district's economy. Communities include: Carbonear, Harbour Grace, Bristol's Hope, Bryant's Cove, Freshwater, Harbour Grace South, Riverhead, Spaniard's Bay, Tilton Upper Island Cove, and Victoria. Claude Sheppard
Claude Asquith Sheppard (June 21, 1916 – October 7, 2001) was a Canadian politician and magistrate. He represented the electoral district of Harbour Grace in the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly from 1956 to 1966 as a member of the Liberal Party of Newfoundland and Labrador. The son of J.F. Sheppard and Mary V. Hiscock, he was born at Spaniard's Bay, Newfoundland and was educated there, at Bishop Feild College and at Memorial University. In 1940, he married Florence Gosse; with her, he had two children. Sheppard served overseas as a major in the Royal Artillery during World War II. He was a stipendiary magistrate from 1946 to 1956. He was first elected to the Newfoundland assembly in 1956. Sheppard served as deputy speaker from 1963 to 1966. He retired from politics in 1966.
