Alan Alda (; born Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo; January 28, 1936) is an American actor, screenwriter, and director. A six-time Emmy Award and Golden Globe Award winner, he is best known for playing Captain Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce in the war comedy-drama television series ''M*A*S*H'' (1972–1983). Alda Bandeira
Alda Bandeira Tavares Vaz da Conceição (born September 22, 1949) is a politician in São Tomé and Príncipe. Bandeira was born in Santana, São Tomé in 1949. Her father was a nurse. She studied modern languages at Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo, Mozambique, received an MA in modern languages and literature from Lisbon University, and studied international relations at the Lisbon Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas. Bandeira taught in secondary schools in Maputo and São Tomé between 1975 and 1982. Bandeira began her political career as the director of multilateral cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a position she held from 1987 to 1990. Alda Noni (30 April 1916 – 19 May 2011) was an Italian soprano leggiero, one of the leading soubrettes of the immediate postwar period. Born in Trieste, she first studied voice and piano in her native city, and completed her studies in Vienna. She made her professional debut in Ljubljana in 1937, as Rosina, later appearing in Zagreb and Belgrade. She sang at the Vienna State Opera from 1942 to 1946, in Mozart, Rossini and lighter Donizetti roles, such as: Susanna, Zerlina, Despina, Adina, Norina. She was chosen by Richard Strauss himself, to sing Zerbinetta in 1944, to celebrate his 80th birthday. Alda Neves da Graça do Espírito Santo (30 April 1926 – 9 March 2010), known as Alda do Espírito Santo or Alda Graça, was a poet from São Tomé e Príncipe working in the Portuguese language. She also served in the Santomean government after the country's independence. Alda Merini (21 March 1931, in Milan – 1 November 2009, in Milan) was an Italian writer and poet. Her work earned the attention and the admiration of other Italian writers, such as Giorgio Manganelli, Salvatore Quasimodo, and Pier Paolo Pasolini. She is one of the founding members of the Women's Caucus for Gender Justice at the International Criminal Court. Aldobrandesca (also known as Aldo, Alda, Aude, Blanca, and Bruna) (1249, Siena, Italy – 1309) was an Italian saint, mystic, and nurse. When Aldobrandesca was a young woman, her parents arranged a marriage for her, which she reluctantly agreed to, but she grew to love her husband, anyway. He died young, leaving her with no children, but she chose to remain celibate, dedicate herself to prayer, and give away all her belongings.
