Alcoy Cemetery
The ''Cementerio de San Antonio Abad'' ''()'' is a cemetery located in Alcoy, Spain, Alcoy (Province of Alicante, Alicante), Spain. This 19th-century cemetery is considered to be one of the most interesting in the Valencian Community, due to its unusual architecture and examples of Valencian Art Nouveau period funerary sculpture. It is listed on the European Cemeteries Route, a cultural itinerary established by the Council of Europe. Vicente Pascual Pastor
Vicente Juan Pascual Pastor (Alcoy, June 3, 1865 – Alcoy, February 2, 1941) was a spanish architect, one of the main architects of the Art Nouveau in Alcoy and the Valencian Art Nouveau. Biography Vicente Pascual Pastor was formed in the Barcelona School of Architecture and again in his natal city, in 1891 he becomes municipal architect of Alcoy. He alternates this work with the teaching in the School of Arts and Alcoy's Trades, of which he will be the director in 1903. Between 1909 and 1913 he becomes mayor of the Alcoy town hall. As a mayor he stimulated the construction of houses for workers in modern and healthy conditions. Inside the social and industrial life of the city, he was present in Alcoy's Savings Bank and in the institution Alcoy's Industrial Circle. He married in 1916 with Elena Perez, who had descent. Art Nouveau in Alcoy ( es, modernismo en Alcoy, ca-valencia, modernisme en Alcoi), as one of the main focuses of the Valencian Art Nouveau, is the historiographic denomination given to an art and literature movement associated with the Art Nouveau in Alcoy (Alicante), Valencian Community, in Spain. Casa D'Escaló
The Casa d'Escaló ''(''Escaló house'')'' is a public building at 2 Joan Cantó street, in the city center of Alcoy (Alicante), Valencian Community, Spain. It is one of the main works of the Art Nouveau in Alcoy. Building The building was designed by the Valencian architect Vicente Pascual Pastor in 1906 and finished in 1908. It is a clear example of Valencian Art Nouveau architecture of the early twentieth century. The building is popularly known as ''Escaló house''. The textile manufacturer from Alcoy Enrique GarcÃa Peidro, known with the nickname of Escaló ''(step)'' promoted the building to shelter his residence. Timoteo Briet Montaud
Timoteo Briet Montaud (Cocentaina, March 3, 1859 – Alcoy, January 30, 1925) was a Spanish architect, one of the main architects of the Art Nouveau in Alcoy and the Valencian Art Nouveau. Biography In 1876 he finishes his studies in Alcoy's Industrial Elementary School. Between 1882 and 1883 he ends his studies in the Barcelona Official School of Fine arts. In 1890 finishes the architect's career in the Barcelona School of Architecture. In 1893 Timoteo Briet marries with Maria Valor Boronat. In 1902 he is nominated municipal architect of Alcoy, by public contest. The Timoteo Briet's art nouveau style will be contained, rather formally and especially with a great influence of the Austrian art nouveau movement Secession, influence that it is present in all his art nouveau works. Fernando Cabrera Cantó
Fernando Cabrera Cantó (1866–1937) was a Spanish painter and sculptor; whose themes ranged from the cheerful and satiric to the darkly morbid. He also did landscapes. Biography He began his artistic education at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia, where his teacher was a fellow Alcoyano, Lorenzo Casanova. He completed his studies in Madrid, with Casto Plasencia, and in Italy; a study trip made possible by a scholarship from the . He collaborated with the architect, Vicente Pascual Pastor, in decorating the Casa del Pavo, one of the landmarks of Art Nouveau in Alcoy. His studio would later be located in the front part of that building. For much of his life, he was a teacher at the School of Arts and Crafts.
